Official 370 Sundancer thread

Does anyone know what size pex (FW) tubing our boats use. Mine is a 1996. I was pretty sure it was 15mm but got some sea-tech 15mm fittings and for the life of me could not get them onto my tubing. Replaced the shower faucet and cockpit faucet and wanted to use the sea-tech fittings instead of the terrible ones that came with the boat. The FW tubing on my boat is grey if that helps.

THANKS!

My 1997 370AC and my 1998 370DA both have 15mm but they are blue and red not the grey stuff. Mark

It has been discussed previously in this thread, the rotten floor in the aft side storage lockers.
What I cant find is any info on how to fix this and how big a job it is.

Anyone that has the info on that? Pictures of the work process?

The 1998 370 I have been looking at has this problem.

370Dancer,

Thanks for the comments as I'm assuming it was in response to mine about the Haier frig. I'm looking into storage shelves for the 6" of blank space left of the frig. Thanks

Phil

For the record, the Gray CPVC water system tubing is 1/2" ID, 5/8" OD. Uses Sharkbite 1/2" fittings available at any Home Depot (and light years better than the old fittings).

Edit - So its done, replaced the entire shower faucet, hose, and handpiece with new Scandvik products. No drilling or alteration required. Also, per above, replaced those terrible FW fittings with sharkbite fittings. Also ended up replacing the shower sump with a drop in Rule 800gph shower sump (old one was frozen repeatedly due to years of shower not working). Whole apparatus works like a charm now.

QUESTION - has anybody replaced their fresh water pump with a newer model, and if so, did you find the newer shurflo pumps to be quieter / smoother / higher capacity?

Just went from a 2002 Shurflo to a 2014 5 gpm a little less noise but a ton of flow.

Wondering if anyone else has this issue with their 370 EC.. When cruising I have a ruster tail of water raising from the center of the wake directly behind the swim platform. There is nothing hanging in the water that could be making it happen but the big issue is the rear seating gets all wet from spray. No one can set there when under way and I have to dry it when we stop.

Anyone have this problem? Did you fix it somehow?

Thinking of putting an 8' wide by 12" rubber mud flap on the swim platform to knock it down. Don't know if it will work but sure would like to fix this problem.

Well first of all, the swim platform will always be wet. There's no way to keep it dry at all. You shouldn't have anybody sitting there with legs dangling in the water while underway. That's just way too dangerous. If someone falls, there's a chance they get sucked under by the wake.

I have water in the middle of the wake that's higher than the side wake. But that's completely normal. We pretty much have the same power and drive set up too.

Guess I was not clear about the seating issue. I was not refering to people sitting on the swim platform when cruising. I was refering to the U shaped seating inside the boat. It gets wet when under way. Do you have that same issue?

Sorry about that, it's the way it read to me. No my rear seats do not get wet. But then I have a Dancer not EC. You're closer to the water back there then I am.

Outside of your props, I don't know why you'd be throwing a big rooster tail.

My DA has a retractable swim ladder under the swim step. If yours does to, you might check and see if any thing had moved around down there, or for a piece of debris that's catching the water just right.

I guess mine is a Sundancer. i thought they were the same. Mine has the extended swim platform and the ladder mounted under it. But I can't see any thing hanging down from it. I do have the camper canvas so maybe that is what is causing it. Maybe the camper top is drawing it back into the boat.

That depends on what you do to the canvas when you are running. I had a sedan bridge that suffered from the station wagon effect that pulled both water and exhaust back into the cockpit. When I run Duckee, I take down the Isenglass and all the side and back panels. I can leave the extended top up or zip it in half and run that way. Doing that does not create the station wagon effect and nothing gets pulled back into the boat. I have noticed that the extended top does slope down a bit from the arch so maybe that also lowers the suction.

No rooster tail, no splash back on my boat. I would still look for something under the swim platform. Or possibly the size of your props?

Can anyone tell me if their boat has spacers (factory or otherwise) on their exhaust risers for 7.4L. I am replacing aftermarket exhaust and dont have the OEM parts to replicate. I seem to hear that some imply the 370 needed 3" riser spacers? I'd love to hear what was factory and what is currently preferred from all those that can post a quick reply. Thanks.

Mine originally came with 3" spacers but I changed them to 6" to help with the very common reversion problems.

My 1997 Sundancer w/ 7.4L has 3" spacers. No problems with reversion.

As I understand, the reversion problem was not solved by the 6" risers but with the "bucket" type mufflers.

So if you use the 3" or 6" risers makes little difference, if you still have the log type muffler.
If replacing both the manifolds, risers and knees, I can see no harm in installing the 6" version.

I stand corrected. It was actually the ingestion problem that the 6" spacer helped to resolve. Also note that the reversion problem was only an issue with the 380hp Horizon motors due to valve overlap from the cam duration/lift. Mark

Anyone have a good source for new propellers? I am thinking about getting an extra set, maybe upgrading to a 4 blade and keeping the original 18x21 3 blades as back ups.
