Official 370 Sundancer thread

this is what we did. Just a piece of oak and a two piece bracket. I also put laminate over the putty original surface.

I need some help, I'm new to the sea ray brand, in fact I'm not actually buying my first sea ray until mid march 2011, I'm purchasing a 370 sundancer and here is my problem, the owner says its a 1992 sun dancer, but the HIN indicates its a 91, however I can not find anywhere on the sea ray site that there even was a 91 sea ray sundancer. Is it possible to have a 91 boat thats actually a 92 model? any help would be very appreciated

I would trust what the HIN # says, not the owner. You could also check the docuementation to see what that says. I guess the boat could have been built in 1991 but not sold until 1992. I would still consider it to be a 1991. They started making this model in 1990 but it was called a 350 DA. They changed it to a 370 in 1992 but it was the same exact boat. Hope this helps, Mark

Yeppers - agree with what Mark says with trust in the HIN number - that number will indicate the year and the model - that last two numbers indicate the year of the boat. It is a 350 DA - again same size as the 370

Good luck!

Thanks everyone for your help, that helps alot, I have known the person who owns the boat very well, I don't believe he would intentionality mis represent the boat, however he has owned the boat only for a couple of years and isn't what I would call a "boat guy" meaning he puts the key in it and it goes, don't get me wrong he does keep the boat maintained but its very possible the boat was mis represented to him, the boat does say "370" in several places on the boat, and either way I intend to buy the boat, just want to make sure I pay the right price.

This is a 1994 - 370 in my marina that redid the interior. I thought it looked nice - so posted a link, don't really know the guy - but saw the boat and though some 370 owners in that era might appreciate the interior redo: http://www.boattrader.com/listing/1994-SEA-RAY-370-SUNDANCER-97568078
Thanks for the link Skolbe. I love getting ideas for up updates. I noticed something in these pics that I have been looking for myself, so maybe someone here can help. The fender holder rack on the transom... I have seen this on a few models. Was it a factory option? Does it have a specific name, and does anyone know if there is an aftermarket version that can be retrofit? I am primarily looking to use it for a tank holder as I do alot of diving. I figure my fenders are 8" and my tanks are 7.75 diameter so it should work. Or if anyone else has another suggestion I am all ears. Thanks.
Vince

Vince, I'm no expert on this but I believe the transom fender rack became an option or standard equipment in 1993 & 94. Just based on memory I don't think I ever saw them on earlier boats but they seem to be on most 370's in 93 & 94. I have no idea where you would find something like that made of fiberglass. Might have to think about a custom stainless or aluminum version. Mark

Nice looking........where did the a/c diffuser (supply air grill) go, was it relocated somewhere?

I live in Seattle... My house does not even have AC. The only thing we did was reduce the size of the opening by about half, cover the stock surface with the oak, and place a 1x4 solid oak board running across the opening. We then attached the TV to a bracket and put the PS3 under.
The PS3 keeps the kids happy on rainy days.

We got shot by the Boat Pix copter last summer and just got the proofs this week

Hey Koch 215,

That looks really good, you certainly extended you coutertop. The wood on the side of the arch is a nice touch. Are to still planning to use your bench seat. If not are you interested in selling it. My 1995 370 sundancer did not come with that feature I cannont find one, tryed various slavage yards with no luck. Let me know and looks good.

Marty

Hey Marty. I'm about to have produced a dog basket in the same wood which must be under the table - I am also about to have produced a table bobbelt size with four legs instead of the small single pin board that is there now in the same wood . I will not be useing the little bench any more but remember I live in Denmark europe so the load is probably a bit expensive, what would you give for it?

Hey Koch, I would need the fiberglass seat along with the cushion and the back bolster which has the cup holder in it and the brackets to attach the lower seat to the wall. Not sure what it would cost for shipping but I would pay $200 US dollars for it assuming its in good shape! Look forward to see more pics of your project!
Marty

hey marty. it is in fine condition and I have it all together seat / back-holders etc. nothing is missing. 200 sounds fine. I'm glad to help. if there is anything I can help let me know i have made a, lot on my 370 change petreol to yanmar diesel --mont truster front/rear .change the intriør in the cabin made a batteri bank insted of the gennerator . this year i have made new canvas in black changing all the stikkers all the decals all the boat grafics to the new designs in black working hard on the gelcoat to make it like new and a lot more ---send me a mail with yours adress then i will work on the shipping cost

Hey guys,

Might have to respectfully disagree here. My HIN says man date of 1994, but no question mine is a 95 due to the radical changes between those years. Just like cars, I'd be surprised if they wait until "2011" to start building "2011s".

I would have to agree. My HIN says '98, but because the keel was laid in '97, my DMV will only register it as a '97. No question mine is a '98 based on the features and the HIN. So the HIN or the DMV registration might be the final word on this.

my first post as a LIKELY 1996 370 owner after this saturday's survey. Looking for a few opinions from those familiar with today's values of these boats. ...have found a 1996 370 that needs 1 new longblock installed and a set of canvas; owner wants out at $39k. I have a few broad quotes for reman engine replacement at $4k, canvas I would assume is 1500? Boat is in above average shape based on my initial 1hr look-see. Seems like a steal unless someone tells me otherwise.

Hey Blisshouse2,

Welocome, you have come to the right place for advice, I can't give much do to I purchased mine a few months ago except to say its a beautifuly designed boat. The guys here I am sure will chime in. Your canvas price seems a litlle low, I am looking into a new camper top for mine and was quoted 7,000 for the entire package front to back even though I only needed the camper package. What happened to the engine? Hope all goes well and we can say welcome aboard!

Marty
