Official 370 Sundancer thread

I was reading through the owners manual for my 1996 370 Sundancer and i read about a central vac system, recently purchased the yacht and i haven't noticed a vac system on the vessel! Do all of the 370's have a vac system on board or is that an option?

Youll probably find it under the salon bench. Mine is at the end by the doorway to the bow stateroom.

And here I go!

Fridge is done. Nova Kool ordered. Now to just strip the old one down to get it out!

Been a few years since I did mine, but IIRC, you need to remove the refrigeration components on the back off it and cut the little metal extensions on the bottom rear.

The Isotherm I replaced it with fit thru the cabin door with a ****hair on each side to spare. Fit perfectly in the existing opening under the stove with about 1" to spare on the top and sides, the flange kit filled that void perfectly. The capacity is greater then the old one also.

I refuse to buy anything from West Marine, but they had the cheapest price, free shipping as I had it shipped to the local store here.

This was a very easy project

Anybody interested in doing this on a MEFI engine? (as in NOT Smartcraft)
Details coming soon

Wow! I thought this would start a storm of conversation. Too early in the season? To be specific, this is a gateway conversion of your MEFI 1 thru 4 engine data to NMEA2000, and just as importantly, an Iphone app that is bascially a RINDA in your phone. This pic is of my raytheon ST-70 multi function display showing port and stb engine RPM, fuel flow, and coolant temp.
This is Smartcraft for the rest of us.

i think it got buried in the midst of all our other chatter. Even I missed it and had to go back in the thread to see where it popped up first.

So the picture only tells part of the story. Need details. Looks cool. How did you do it?

I have been beta testing a gateway that will connect to your MEFI engine computer, and translate it to NMEA2000 without all the licensing overhead and cost. The side benefit is it also has Bluetooth, so you can monitor a LOT of parameters via your Iphone (IOS now, Android in the future). That's what I meant by having a RINDA in your phone.
This is basically what B&G had for 15 minutes with the Network Engine instrument, except that their solution was directly wired to the engine. For a NMEA2K display, I picked up the Raytheon ST70 multi function display (obsolete my butt) on Ebay for a couple hundred or so. This company is filling a gap that we are all in. High tech displays, and low tech engines. I don't mean to be catty about it, but the company is tooling up now to go to market. When they are ready, I'll spill some beans. Meanwhile, I can tell you that if you are interested in fuel flow, and other engine parameters, this is cheaper than a Flow Scan, with a lot more capability. If you have Smart Craft engines, this is not for you.

Once I can get into the boat to verify our MEFI versions I think I'm going to pull the trigger on them. Sounds like it will interface with my a68 once converted to seatalk. Very cool device, I think he has a very large market if it works as promised.

Has anyone installed a pair of these?

me
Seatalk II is NMEA200 with proprietary connectors (thanks, Raymarine)

Out of town until the 1st. When I get back, I'll post some pics, and video of mounting, cabling, and usage.

Do the engines need to be EFI or will it work with carburated engines too?

They plug into the engine's computer. If you have TBI (throttle body injection) then you may have a computer. If you are just carbs, I don't think you will.

I am very interested!!!!
I have a 1996 370 DA with TBI. I had a mechanic on-board a couple years ago and he was able to plug his engine reading computer into mine and see all of the diagnostics. I would assume that his ability to connect to my engines with his computer would/could/should allow me to do teh same with the system you are describing. At least I would like to if we can.. LOL

Keep me posted!!!

I guess I have a new project to work on before launch day! My ECM serial number matches the MEFI-1. My Lowrance HDS10-Gen 2 will display several parameters of the Fox products so now it will be interesting to see if I can set it up to read it all. Stay Tuned!

Does anybody know off hand if the engines in our boat model year were set up independently or with the Master/Slave wire configuration??

Thanks

Can you let me know what NovaCool model you ordered and from where? Also xravenx what model Isotherm did you get, if you remember or have the info somewhere. Would like to replace this year but deciding between Vitifrigo and the others. Thanks!!!

Tommy,

I'll get the info this weekend while I'm at the boat, or maybe tomorrow if I sneak down there at lunch time
