Kevin the tv looks sweet. Nice upgrade. Thanks for the photo of the sensors also. I checked mine , and it looks like I'm not getting 12v dc to the "module" that the sensors are plugged into. I traced it back to the eplex module above the stern thruster which has power but that's where my search ended. Thanks Joe

Thanks, I don't think I could have squeezed anything bigger in that space.

Damn Eplex strikes again! People think it looks cool, but it sure can be a PITA when it goes bad. I wonder if anything else is connected to that module.
When I have more time to write, I'll share my sh&tty story on the duckbills. I got them done, and it wasn't as bad as I envisioned, but still GROSS! I'm not sure I followed the proper protocol on removing and reattaching the pump, but I got it done nonetheless. It wasn't easy fitting it back together.

Glad to see this thread active...lol....Question on the TV....I upgraded mine but I was afraid to go bigger than 25" because when opening the access door it would not open...Just curious.....I refuse to have TV's on boats anymore...lol

John we haven't really used any of the tv's yet in the two years we've owned the boat, wife won't let me get satellite for the reason of "it's a boat" we don't need tv!!' Anyway it's nice to have on a rainy day.
As I was winterizibg today, the damn EPLEX is bugging out on me now. This is the first time with any trouble. I touch it and it switches to another page or turns another device on !!
I have to read up on it a little before I attempt any thing further
My holding tank does not register the level it's 0% all the time
This is what I found so far

The 4 black wires are not connected to anything I don't see how it could send a "message" back to the module. ?
Any ideas ?

Hey Joe, all of those crimp connectors are of the heat shrink type and have never been heated Thus have never shrunk nor has the epoxy ozzed from their ends to seal them up. You may already now or eventually will have corrison problems. I recommend replaceing them all before this repair is complete. The reason to replace them as apposed to shrinking them now is that you can not tell if corrosion has already started with the naked eye.

Hi John, How's life on the Fountaine?

Yes, we had the same concern about access to the breaker box behind. But, in the 4 years we've had the boat I haven't had to go back there once. In the event that we need to, removing the TV is a cinch. Just lift up and unplug a few connectors. I think the TV weighs about 7 lbs.

Joe, with 4 Y/O twins TV and sat. are a must now and for the foreseeable future. I think Playstation is upcoming too. Need to keep everyone happy...

I could check my module to see if those black wires are attached to anything, but I'm not going to be there until Thanksgiving now. Also, your module looks a little "cooked" for some reason.

Kevin-Do you still have your 36 Sedan Bridge? Any problems with eplex?

Mike

Hi Mike,

Yes, still have it. Don't see it near enough, but it's there waiting for me. Not too many problems with the E-Plex. Only one right now. The module for the Gen set and underwater lights. I think I'll need to replace it. Any ideas on what the modules cost, and the difficulty of replacement?

You?

Kevin

Hi Kevin-No problems with mine (knock on wood); I have no idea what they cost or the replacement process..I would call SEARAY directly @321-449-8628..They are very helpful..Or you can call your SEARAY dealer but they are expensive..Do you still live in Phoenix? Have you ever taken your boat to Catalina? If so, How is the stability?

Take care

Mike

Hi Mike,

I need to get around to that before I visit the boat next. Thanks for the tip. Yes, still in Phoenix. Haven't taken the boat to Catalina yet. Still a little shook from the 10' swells I had the boat in right after I bought it. Stability wasn't the best. Pendulum effect up on the bridge almost caused a Code Brown. I hear it's best to start out in the early morning.

Are you thinking about taking it a ways out?

Kevin

Mike,
i was just thinking of that, I have this boat for 6 years now and other then having to reset the eplex once in awhile it really is working great. Hope it stays that way

Glad I found this thread. We started out looking at larger boats but the docking costs seem to soar around here when you get more than 40' long so we are considering this hull now.

As an engineer there are a few things that scare the heck out of me when it comes to boats and one of them is the Eplex multiplexed control setup. For serviceability I'd prefer good old fashioned breakers but I figured I'd ask... how these systems are holding up?

Thanks, Ken

Ken as you see I owned an 07' no real problems with the Eplex but I'll tell you I'm glad I don't have that system any longer as I did have to do a hard reboot a few times and the system is clunky at best. I just didn't trust it and always worried it just wasn't going to work one day. I know with some software updates they worked most of the bugs out of them but as an engineer you know a "breaker" either works or it doesn't not the Eplex.
If you have an specific questions I'll be glad to speak with you. Pm me. 07' it was called a 36. Then they changed it to a 39' in 09' I believe.

I Have an 1986 390 sedan sportfish on the east coast of Canada. They are gas and I get 1mpg at 10 kts.

Thanks guys. Were going to go look at one this week and I know my wife and daughter will look at the shiny screens and think it's super cool. Electronic control systems concern me. Not because I don't understand them, more so that when I go to the boat the last thing I need is some glitchy BS just like I deal with at work all day/every day.
