Official 320 Dancer Thread

Looks good. I did something similar last year before I sold my 320.

Looks great guys. I did this but I didnt think to spell out the 320... I used numbers from a 240 and a 300 decal... (or 310 cant recal) I might have to go back and change this. What year did you order the "three-twenty"from?

Does anyone know how to remove the cushioning aroung the forward Berth?

They were just made by my local graphics guys, so not an OEM part or associated with a particular year.

My solution to stumbling in the dark to turn on the head light was purchasing an LED motion light powered by three AAA Batteries.
Adhesive back,..used entire season and only had to replace batteries once.
This works great, open the door and the light comes on!

Hi, Been lurking here, and we have learned so much from this thread. Just wanted to say thanks for posting all this great knowledge. Looking for a 320 in the great lakes for the upcoming season.

got a question about the hull.with full fuel tanks my 2005 320 leans about 1" me to starboard at REST. she also has no problem getting up to max rpm when driving. don't keep much on the boat so its not a weight distribution issue. just wondering if this hull is balsa core and maybe im getting water in the hull. anybody have a problem like this.
thanks any input would be greatly appreciated
mike

The hull is not a cored hull.

My 2003 320DA does not have SmartCraft gauges. I don't want to add them, but I would like to bring the SmartCraft data through a Mercury SmartCraft Gateway and onto NMEA2000 for display on an MFD. How can I tell if my engines have SmartCraft sensors and harnesses already? 've looked through the engine service manual and can't find any mention of SmartCraft, but I've heard these engines might have the SmartCraft harnesses already there, just not connected to anything.

Does anyone have pictures or diagrams showing the SmartCraft harness locations? And more importantly, would knowing my engine serial numbers tell me (I did email Mercruiser with this question, too)?

I have the twin 350 MAG MPI Horizon V-drives.

SmartCraft to NMEA 2000 on Dual Mercruiser Inboards

So I received a reply from Mercruiser and it was more informative than I hoped. Here's what they replied:

Thank you for your email regarding MerCruiser serial number 0M392144. We appreciate the opportunity to respond to your questions.
Your engines should be smartcraft compatible. You or a dealer should be able to find the 10 pin terminator resistor on the engine harness, these usually have a blue, red, or yellow cap. Our gateway translates smartcraft engine data into NMEA2000.

Here is the data that your engine is capable of sending:

Here is how we recommend rigging a dual engine for gateway. The rigging is different if you wanted to use any of our smartcraft gauges.

Now I don't know about you, but this was EXACTLY the information I was looking for, including part numbers that I need to get, to create the conversion from SmartCraft to NMEA 2000 for my dual engine configuration. Well done Mercruiser! And now I have yet another project for my boat!

thanks
for the info. still cant figure out the lean. what do you think

Looking to get some feed back on how you guys /gals have organized your electronics spreads...

My plan is somewhat set in motion as of Friday (AC boat show got me started) I just purchased a 741sx and a 8 pin adapter so it will integrate with existing ray marine transducer. Currently have a tri-data front and center and a RL70 with radar on the port side of the helm... The 741sx is going to replace the tri-data. This should get my by until I can upgrade the RL70 which is totally useless... (been using Garmin helm app on IPad until now...) next step will be to replace the RL70 and existing radar ill prob go with the 7610 and the 18xHD dome for radar... the 741sx is appealing because you no longer need the sonar box for depth and it has built in antenna so the larger unit will need none of this... at least that's how I'm interpreting it. (I'll prob get the remote antenna just because)

Also going to get the smartcraft nema2000 gateway so that i can bring the engine data forward to the 741sx... Ultimate goal is to be able to have map and radar on the larger unit and engine data on the 741 when running outside. Then when navigating in the skinny waters I can pull the maps over to the smaller unit and have a map front and center eliminating the need to look away as often...

Originally wanted to go with the just one unit mounted on the port side of the helm and have 2 GMI's front and center but I'm thinking I can get everything on a 741 that i would have on a GMI's so i might as well just put the 741 there and be able to run the map if needed as well...

Love Garmin for how easy they make everything (touch is flawless updates are a sinch and the app integration is great... my only gripe is active captain notes don't integrate with the GPSmaps yet... I think Furuno has this already... Hoping that this is on the horizon and it will just be a quick easy FW update... (anyone have any intel on this?) running the ipad app (blue charts mobile) until now and I'm very accustom to having them... find it extremely helpful.

Anyway hoping you guys can make suggestions on this spread and or poke holes in it if you see any.

Couple quick questions. What is the length of the v-berth mattress? What is the length and width of the mid cabin area when converted to sleeping?

Thanks

2 foot-itus got the better of us... Just upgraded to a 2006 320DA from a 240 sundeck. Ive got a lot to learn this year. She's under shrink now but I'll be able to wax her in the yard.

Thanks in advance for the help I'll get from this crew.
