Official 320 Dancer Thread

Hello I am new to the site. I have a 2004 320 sundancer and I am have a problem getting my dockside cable or my Glomex to show anything on the bulkhead TV. If I hook it direct to the tv from the dock I get it to work. I call sea Ray and they said there is a splitter by the distribution panel. But I could not find one any where. Any thoughts. Thanks.

I am not sure about a splitter but I had a similar issue and did not realize that there is a gain switch in the bottom cabinet, port side forward of the galley sink. Make sure you have checked that out.

There was a splitter on mine behind the distribution panel. There is not one in plain view, you will have to remove the four screws that hold the panel to gain access to the rear.

Anyone know what options there are for code scanners?? The Techmate and mercruiser tools are pretty pricey.

Do do you know if it was behind the upper or lower panel

if I recall, I think it was behind the upper right side. I remember it hanging fairly close to the electrical outlet box that bulkhead TV was plugged into behind the distribution panel. It split there to the bulkhead TV, to the mid-stateroom flip down TV and around to the master berth TV next to the galley. But of course as I have learned on this site, sometimes two of the exact same year and model boats with the exact same specs are at most times built or wired differently.

It's time to replace the anchor chain/rode on my 2004 320. I've looked a bit online, but can't find the specs in terms of chain and rope size. Anybody have those specs?

I think it's 5/16" x25' RV 1-chain and 5/8" rope 200'-that's what's in my boat at Lake Mead and what came with the boat

Scooper321. Searay-parts.com has replacement dash pieces and custom pieces.

Wow, that's steep! But thanks. Anyway, I don't need the whole set. I was looking for just one piece - the lower accessory panel on the port side of the dash. I may just use some black star board to "frame" a new VHF radio and then attach that to the panel I already have. (hiding the existing VHF radio cut out in the process).

Thanks again.

Does anyone know where I can get a blower vent cover for my 2004 Sundancer 320? It is for the starboard side and it is the part at the rear that is about 4 feet long and made of fiberglass. I know that a lot of people have been having problems with these falling off but Sea Ray no longer carries this part.

Good Afternoon Gents,

I'm in the process of closing up my 320 for the winter... last step is to pull the batteries... I'm interested in hearing how you have closed your engine hatches once the batteries have been removed. Please let me know before I go nuts rigging up something up that I do not have to...

Plug a jump pack into the cigarette lighter (boat should have come with an adapter for this purpose - if not easy to make)

On mine, the cigarette lighter trick did not work! I simply opened the door under the steering wheel to access the fuse panel and attached the pos & neg cables from the battery jump pack to the main connections on the fuse panel. Worked like a charm!

For the 320 V-Drive owners out there that do their own maintenance work, how do you go about removing your impellers on your mains? This is the one thing I just can't figure out based on its location. I would like to be able replace and service the impellers but I can't figure out where the bolts are located because they are in such a tight spot. This past season I just had the marina do it and I just hate paying that labor charge for such a simple and routine task. There has got to be a trick to doing this.

If you search through the maintenance section you'll find a few different approaches to this. I found that I could not reach the back side of the pump to loosen the hoses.

My procedure is, remove exhaust hoses and muffler. This gives you the room to get in front of the engine to work. Remove engine belt and remove the bolts that hold the pump. There is not enough room to slide the pump forward because it's going to hit the harmonic balancer so you'll need to disconnect the bracket from the pump. The pump should now be hanging from the hoses. Make sure you have a 10mm rachet wrench. Use the ratchet wrench, reach around the back side of the pump and remove the bolts that hold the pump together. It may look like it can't be done but there is room to get to every bolt. The front side of the pump should now come off. Replace impeller and reverse the procedure to reassemble.

Make sure you check the pump closely as the front seal tends to leak. Both of my pumps were leaking.

Good luck!

Water Pump Impeller Change Out:

Back on 3/8/10 thread #846 on this 320 site I did a write up to change the raw water pump impellers. It didn't bring back fond memories. lol

AAK, after reading your post and my time last weekend in the ER, it looks like I should budget to have the marina do it every other year. This past weekend I tried to remove one of he exhaust hoses and it took me about 25 minutes of trying to wrestle it off the riser. I eventually gave up. I swear when looking at the next boat ease of access to do routine maintenance in the ER will be high on the list.
