Official 320 Dancer Thread

Hi, there. This weekend I just remove the old fridge in my 320 Sundancer and installed a new Stanley Steel fridge outside in the cockpit , I think it looks great, it wasn't easy because this model is 2" larger, wider, taller, deeper than the old one, it was like a 6 hours work, had to remove and change the position of the 120 V electrical switch on the back, remove the inside left box, cut the opening with a Jig saw horizontal and vertical. Here is a picture of the final job.

Good job - is this fridge narrow enough not to need to cut the port side bulkhead at the back of the cavity - on my install the firge has effectively a 45 degree cut out so it does not interfere with the port side of the boat.

Well the original fridge is short in deep about 2" because the original door is 2" to the front, this one is flat so the 2 " deeper must go to the inside, and the port bulkhead in my boat was blocking it, the only way to fit it was to remove the port bulkhead. If someone does not want all the trouble just replace it with the original one, will save you a lot of time and moving parts. At the end the wife was very happy with the final look, so it was worth it.

My 320 is an 07 and I'm looking for the factory installed amp that runs the cabin speakers and sub. I've just about taken everything apart that I can find. Under the couch is only my amp running to the cockpit. Any ideas where others have found this Amp? Thank you

Pull the radio out and make sure the cabin speakers are not wired directly to it. That is how mine was originally wired. As for a sub if you can't find another amp it is most likely wired to the amp under the pull out with a low frequency capacitor or some sort of crossover. To many variables to give a direct answer. Hope it helps.

Found it! :smt038

For those that ever need to get to it, it's in the front compartment of the Vberth. The reason I missed it the first time I looked in there is that it's mounted to the wall inside on the back side of the AC. So you can only see it if you actually get on the bed, stick your head in, and look to the rear. Can't just lift it open and look in.

Yeah I had the radio out. Was changing the head unit so I could see there were amp wires and not speaker wires. Also with the sub down there, I knew it was the upgraded system from the factory and had to have an amp as well.

Thanks for for the reply

My port fuel gauge is not working, is always showing empty, does anyone solve the same problem, maybe it is already a thread about it?

I had that issue on both of my tanks. Both senders went bad on me so had to replace them and all ok now.

Hey so I'm getting my props reconditioned because of a bunch of reasons on is I'm around 5100 rpms wot... I have the 6.2's which spec between 4600 and 5000.... I would like to hear what others are running.... (With 6.2's obv)

Port -5000, starboard - 5100 RPMs.[/QUOTE
thanks smekeio... What's you cruise speed and cruise rpm? Also do you know what your burning at cruise? All info is appreciated. Would you concider your boat dialed in?

Think I need (or will soon need) to replace the alternator on one engine. I have had an issue where at idle and low RPM it outputs around 14v but at higher RPM is drops to 12v and maybe a hair below. This is based on the analog and digital gauges at the helm. I have checked, rechecked, and even replaced the serpentine belt (needed it anyway) to see if it was slipping. I found a replacement on amazon that is around 80 where as the OEM is around 250. Anyone have experience with OEM replacements? Below is the link.

For anyone that might be interested. I replaced the alternator over the weekend. Was an exact fit, all the proper connections and it solved my weak charge issue :) True test will of course be in the long term life of the part.

Yes, I replaced both 3 years ago, I removed them, went to MarineMax and they told me they are crack, and must be replaced, so this us a normal maintenance issue. After I replaced both panels all start working perfect again.

Anyone have to replace the the switch pad module on the stud side of helm? I can't get the windless to go up and down and when I press the power button the little light does not come on but the foot switches work up on the bow. The dealer said the pads are over $300 something....ouch! You have to replace the whole pad if just one thing doesn't work.

I have to replace both of my panels, everything was acting crazy, I remove both took them to MarineMax, they told me there is no way to fix it, so I bought 2 new panels , installed them and everything went back to normal, apparently this panels must be replaced, they start to crack in the back and all digital controls stop functioning correctly. I did this 3 years ago, and still working perfect, so my suggestion replace both.

So theres a 2002 320DA for sale around here. Listed as having the 350'MAG MPI inboards. I'm having a devil of a time figuring out what that means. Are these truly inboards or is this a v-drive setup?

And while we are on the topic, everyone says inboard and v-drives cost less to maintain than I/O drives. But I/O drives are better on gas consumption. So is it a wash, monetarily? Or is the additional gas spend of an inboard still way less than the cost of maintaining and servicing I/O drives? Anyone have any numbers to share?

I'm looking at this 320da, a four winns vista 298, a vista 328 and a chaparral sig 300.

Thanks
Steve
