Official 320 Dancer Thread

Sure enough, it looks like someone tried to fix it before but did a half ass job rather than removing the window and cleaning the surfaces and resealing. The foam/vynal trim around the window was wet so I know that water was getting in, now if it's the same water I'm finding in the aft cabin we shall see. That is the last place I would have looked finding water that far away.

After spending our first season with our 320 last year we are looking for ways to make use of the space. I would like to hear how other 320 V drive owners make use of their storage, from the lazarette to the space beneath the V birth.

This will be our first full season and before she goes in the water we will be reorganizing our storage. We kind of threw the basics into cabinets and my OCD is kicking in.

Does anyone know how the batteries are set up on a 320? I have 4 deep cycle batteries currently as was wondering what batteries do what, for example are the accessories run off of port or starboard, what battery starts the engines, what starts the generator, or do all 4 share the load? Any insight would be appreciated

I was cleaning the boat this past weekend and after finishing the wife said there was a little water on the starboard black shelf below the porthole windows. I noticed one window had a tab that was not fully centered. Curious if that fixed it. Will test next weekend or start searching for a leak. Curious if anyone else had something like this. Never noticed this before.

In regards to storage we bought foot stools that complement the interior.

Anyone have a good suggestion for a replacement shower/faucet combo for the head? Maybe one that actually locks in place when hung from the shower bracket. The stock one just spins around and more water ends up in the sink the on me.

That shower head drives me crazy! I'd be interested to see if anyone replaced it with something better.

Doing sea trial next week on a 2007 320! Looking forward to it. First "big" boat for us and a jumping into the unknown...any advice or tips? Has 350 mag horiz. with V-Drives... most of the options on it and 380 hours...has clean history report and maint. records are just routine maint.

Any one have a "checklist" of sorts to use during the sea trial?

find out if riser were changed also engines should have gen III fuel coolers. they are a problem you get paint delamination on the fuel side. if you remove the fuel regulator on the cooler and its loaded with paint the coolers need to be changed $1000 a piece . goodluckmke

Hey RandSNH, Right there with you! 2003 320 DA 6.2 V-drives. sea trial scheduled for the 6th. cant wait i have all my extremities crossed lol. If all goes well ill be making a 2 day trip from Kent island Maryland back to my home port in Brick NJ. (kent to C&D down to Cap may spend the night then Home) Unless you have records of the manifold and risers being done i would make sure you use a laser thermometer and ensure your risers aren't running to hot... if you are you may want to include that cost in your budget.. Iv been told they last about 5 years... Mine doesn't appear to have ever had them done so I'm doing them at the marina after closing before i make the trip back... The damage that can be done is to great to risk not doing them in my onion.

Did you get a surveyor? if so he should be taking the ride with you... he will know what to check for... the above should be one of them. WOT is another... Good Luck!

Thank for the tips ....making a good list.... Good luck with your trial... what kind of temp change would indicate a problem with the risers and or manifold? or is it a large split between them and rest of system...

if they were never changed, change them just good insurance for a trouble free season. on my 2005 350 horizon mag ive changed:fuel coolers, risers, iac(idle air control) serpentine belts and this year sea water pumps. I have 410 hours--good luck mike

Sea Trial went great.. No issues at all....Riser temps all normal and 360 hours on the motors freshwater boat....marine tech supervisor says that riser issues usually found on saltwater boats and this boat being in same freshwater lake since new and stored indoors during winter should be good for many more years...
I hope he is right... GenIII coolers installed when new......

So..... I now own the boat.. if I could only learn to back into the tight slip without wrecking everything within 50 feet...quickly before the busy season...

Congrats! Just practice a little and you will do fine. I thought the same thing, but after going real slow, and spinning her etc, I backed in the first time. After that, I practiced here and there. Key is to take your time, work the gears only to turn and don't be afraid or embarrassed to pass it up and begin the approach again.

Congrats as well,
I am on my 2nd season with 320 DA. I have outdrives so backing in sometimes becomes a challenge. I did not have any near misses, however I found myself not going out on windy days. I went ahead and had bowthruster installed, just to make any weather situation I might encounter less challenging. With V Drives, not sure you need that.
Good Luck!

Officially a 320 owner! Mara trial went well had some gals temp readings on the gauges that almost crushed the deal:-( however we were able to shoot the sending units and risers and found gauges reading 20-30 degrees off. Cleaned terminals and all is good! I'm actually on the second leg of my trip home and am thinking my props are undersized. Boat runs 5200 at WOT... Should be between 4800-5000 according to the manual. I'm pretty sure this is crushing my fuel economy. Hoping some other 320 sundancer owners can through some knowlege. Hers how I'm doing. Ran 6 hrs yesterday burned 172 gallons.... Rand between 3900 and 4000 rpms and was only getting 20 knots... This is a 6.2 vdrive. I'm thinking the re-prop should fix this. Going for the 4 blades. Does this sound like the right thing to do? Also is there any 6.2 vdrive owners that have this dialed in and could tell me what kind of cruse burn rate I should be looking to acchieve

Are those the original props? I run about 3700-3800 RPMs for my normal cruise and run about 22 knots (25 mph). My WOT RPM is around 4800. I am getting about .89nmpg at this rpm (cruise rpm 3700-3800) which is normal for this boat when fully loaded with fuel, water, and the dinghy on the swim platform. 172 gallons for 6 hours of running sounds about right in my experience. The 4 blade props will give you more bite at lower rpm, especially when docking. You will get on plane quicker, but you will lose a little on the top end. Im not sure the 2k in props is worth it though. The stock props are a prefect blend of efficiency and economy and this will be my 8th year with the 320.
