Official 320 Dancer Thread

the lights over my solon seat-there are 2-can be adjusted/directed- nickel finish- one light bulb has gone out-how does the cover remove to replace bulb-I don't want to damage the vinyl- no set screw that I can see-maybe just pries off-any ideas?

The one in the ceiling? If so, twist turn it, do not “pry it”.

thanks I'll do that when I get back to the boat after the 4th-nice looking boat you got there-keep a good thought

Does anybody know how to get my IPOD to work on my 2007 Sundancer 320? I have it on auxiliary - and I believe it's plugged in correctly. Any pointers are appreciated.
Thanks

In 2007 - none of them were installed correctly. Looks at the schematic for the radio and fix the connections. Everyone that bought a 2007 had this issue.

Ok, I have a question to all the 320 owners.... My '05 was delivered to me March '2009 and was still premium certified and warranty was extended out until March '2012. When boat arrived, BOTH water pump assemblies were toast and the entire units had to be replaced, thankfully under warranty. Fast forward to last Sunday, my starboard engine sets off alarms and loses power, and shreds the serpentine belt while on plane, black smoke, noise, all the stuff you never want to see. Long story short, MM tells me I need another new starboard water pump assembly, approx $400 parts, $100 belt, lots labor, estimated between $800 and $900 total. Seriously, this will be water pump #3 for my starboard engine on an '05 low hour boat.... Nobody at MM seems to know of any recalls or anything. Personally I'd think they should not fail every 3 years. Anyone else have this kind of experience other than me??? TIA
Steve,
Same thing happened to me but mine was due to a impeller that was bad, completly seezed the motor and shreded the serpentine belt . Should replace them every 2-3 years, on my list do do this fall.

It's time for a new anchor rode. My gypsy often slips, the line is hard and beginning to fray. On my lake, the average depth is about 20-25 feet, so I don't need a ton of chain. I think....think....my windlass takes 5/16 chain....can anyone confirm this? Got a link to any replacement suggestions?

Thanks!

Thought I would share a couple pitcures of the custom awning I had made for my 320. It is easy to put up with thumb screws and quick release pins, and stows nicely across the back of the mid-berth seating area when not in use. It's not meant to be up when running, but gives us tons of shade options when rafted up. Used to be if I needed to sit in the shade, I sat on my buddies Chapparel. No more!

I told the canvas shop I didn't want any hoops or permanent attach points on the back of the boat. I didn't want anything that would spoil the lines or get in the way. I think his solution was ingenious.

Hoping I am attaching these pictures correctly.

Ok guys...what am I doing wrong? My pins that secure the hatch actuators to the hatch keep walking out....how can I prevent this?

Mine did the same. I used zip-ties.

I know this has been mentioned before on the thread but it was quite some time ago. Recently I had an fault code come up on my SC5000 (vessel view) The code was 152 which turned out to be "Critical Idle Air Valve". The part is located in front of your carburetor and takes less than 5 minutes to install. To replace the part you can purchase it from any Sea Ray dealer for about $120.00 plus tax or you can go to any auto shop and give them this reference number # 862998 and you will have a nice new mercruiser IAV for $57.00
I replace both for the price of one and bought a beer with the change left over. It cleared my fault and now actually get full power back as the fault reduces your power to 90 percent. Hope this helps someone and enjoy the beer.

Hey 320 guys, I had a chance to get some WOT numbers this weekend and I wanted to poll the peanut gallery and see what you thought.

Half load of fuel, full load 40g water, with 300-400 lbs of gear and 2 persons on board.
Seas 2-3 feet, wind 10 kts at our back.

I saw 4600 RPM and about 28-29 kts WOT.

I have not had the props scanned or polished in the year I have owned the boat, nor does it appear the PO did although they seem in good shape. The boat is up to date on maintenance with 120 hrs on the clock.

Thoughts?

Sounds about right. I had my boat out for a test run today before I head over to Bimini Thursday, and hit about 4500 WOT, and about 32 mph.. Full fuel, 1/2 water, and found out a leak in one of the new cool fuel modules that made my bilge alarm go off about every 5 minutes.. My mechanic said the new fittings in the new modules are flimsy and weak and tend to pop off.. He is coming over in the am to re-drill and fix. I was wondering why the bow was riding higher than usual!!

Always something!

Sounds reasonable. We are getting 4600 WOT @ 32mph with full fuel, minimal water, me, wife, 4 kids, and all of their crap. (probably an extra ton of legos) Bottom is probably dirty because we haven't used her much. (The boat, not the wife)

With a clean bottom, freshly scanned props, new plugs/wires and 75% fuel / 50% water / 2 persons and a small amount of gear I saw 33 knots @ 4950rpm...may have had a bit more in her but I didn't want to push too hard.

So I think your numbers are a tad low.

I posted a boat test chart on here a few times, but for some reason I can't get it to work now.

Top speed for V-drives - 350 Mags was 4950 rpm's. 30.8 knots and 35.4 MPH.

Same here, I can hit that speed as well.

Mine hit 5020 rpm's with fresh props and new bottom paint. Don't know the speed - probably in the mid 30's.
