Official 320 Dancer Thread

For my stereo....it turns out that the remote trigger from the head unit had come loose from the actual head unit plug. I ripped everything apart and found that last....its ALIVE.

We're just starting to settle into our new to us 320. We've figured out most of the systems. There's one button on the starboard helm control pad which we're not sure what it's for. The manual doesn't show it being there. So I downloaded a 340 manual and there's the button. In the 340 manual it says it's for controlling the "water system". Not sure what that means. Can somebody enlighten me if you have the same control pad? Thanks in advance.

That is a universal control pad it is used on several different dancers - that button does nothing on yours on a 280 da it turns the water system pump on

Yes it is not used.

Brian, sorry for the delay, been away from technology for awhile. Going to install my chain tonight, it came in just as ordered on wednesday and I just finished painting my 25' and 20' and 10' warning marks, can't hardly wait to use it. Ok, I got it from Randy over at 1st-chainsupply (dot com, hope ok to post that) What I needed for my Lofrans Project 1000 Windless was 5/16 HT G4 ISO short links, bought the 150' drum. Pricing is probably subject to change but I got it delivered for around just under $600, the free freight offer saved me $160...a hell of a snag. Randy was a great guy and I'm looking forward to dealing with them in the future if needed. Hope this helps you and anyone else waiting to pull the trigger on going all chain.

Steve, perfect, thanks for the info. I have the same Windlass on my boat and I might do the same. I'm wondering if there's enough space in the anchor locker for all that chain. Please update after you get it on. Thanks again, Brian

Installed last Saturday night, besides lugging the approx. 180lb container with chain down to the boat it was a piece of cake. Plenty of room for the 150' of chain I bought, i'd guess maybe room for twice that. First thing I noticed is the waterline on my boat came up maybe an inch around the swim platform. The first day out with all chain, the boat came to plane faster without using my tabs at all, the chain was great setting the anchor much more easily than what I was used with my former rope/chain setup. On my windless, Lofrans/Imtra did recommend in the manual removing the pressure finger if using all chain, as it is no longer necessary. I did order a plug for the windless to fill in where the pressure finger normally would go, probably just cosmetic, i'd imagine it would work without the filler plug. Love, love the all chain setup. No regrets !!!!

My 5Kw Generator isn't cycle water for cooling. Sea valve is open, filters are clear. Anyone had that same problem?

Sounds like your impeller is bad.. Have you checked that? Do you have a spare? Also did you check the sea strainer?

As Barry said check your strainer first, but I’m betting on your Impeller being bad. Common problem and the fix is not too difficult. Since you have a 05 and if you have not changed it yet than you are well over do for one.

If you close the seacock and pull the strainer cap do you have good water flow coming out of the top of the strainer? If not look for a clog. The impeller on mine is changed annually.

Probably a lame question and if I were to poke around more in the engine room, I am sure I would figure this out....

The generator....which fuel tank does it pull from? The reason I ask is because on my Four Winns, it pulled from only one tank, so I assume this is the same way?

My gen kept shutting down this weekend. Just replaced pellet July 2010. 150 hours since then... No water so safety shutdown. So yes sea strainer on my 320 never have anything in them. Removed the four bolts and pulled impeller. Just one blade left and rest were just nubs, crazy. Guess they mean it on every 100 hrs or season. Fast easy 5min job. Love these easy maintenance tasks!!!!!

Typo, sorry, impeller not pellet. Only thing next is keeping impeller spare and wrench on board. Never know when one could go out and then no a/c, etc. Best of luck everyone.

I agree with that, I have to change my impeller this week and I am going to buy two! Safety tip here, wait till the damn engines cool down before climbing back there. I went to check the strainer last week after coming in with a generator problem… Ouch!

BTW, does anyone else have the same problem I have; every time I come out of the bilge I am bleeding somewhere!

I am glad to hear I am not the only one that comes out of the bilge bleeding! You forgot to mention the bruises that go along with the bleeding.

Brady (Brady Bunch) is my cousin. I haven't poked my head in there yet, but is the strainer separate from the strainer for the main engines? I'd like to help him fix this but if you guys have any pictures that would be great before we head to the boat.

My generator pulls fuel from the Port side. (Fuel valve is on the top of the tank just under deck below the port side seat) My boat is a 2006, so maybe something changed?
