Official 320 Dancer Thread

welcome to the 320 club! what year did you get? are they inboards? It's a great boat, so I hope it gives you plenty of enjoyment!
Barry

Thanks. 2007 and yes, V Drives will be a world of a difference cruising around in this too the 260

Just before winter hit, I sold my 2007 260 DA and have been shopping for a 320 since:smt038. Well I finally found one and will be getting it Surveyed next Sat which from what I could see, there should be no surprises (I hope).

The boat looks great, Black Hull, hard top soft top option, 6.2Ls, Gene, upgraded stereo, etc... I already have a list of what needs to be done and the isinglass is at the top of the list. It's not in the best shape and most likely, I will replace it.

On my 260, I had the camper option so with all the canvas up, I had screens and plenty of air flow when using it. From what I can see, including the one I am about to purchase, not many 320s have a camper option and just have an aft curtain. I boat on the south shore of Long Island and there have been plenty of times where I have used the camper canvas, whether it was rain, wind, bugs, or whatever else.

I was looking to get some info on what everyone does if it's necessary to put up the canvas while enjoying the boat. What do you do for air flow? Do alot of guys have the U glass for the front windows? Should I get a screen on the aft window?

Any feedback, thoughts, past experiences, and ways others have been enjoying there's when the canvas time has been called would be greatly appreciated.

Any other advice for the boat, always appreciated.

Thanks again and very happy to be joining the 320 club!!! As long as all goes well :smt101

I have a brand new set of side Isinglass from Great Lakes Boat tops Ill let go cheap. Send me a PM if you are interested. Congrats of the purchase! You will love the 320.

Scums,
I know that BillnPat put a new camper canvas on his 310 and boats of Long Island like you. You might PM him directly or post in a general forum to get some suggestions on vendors and expected prices. I had to replace the Eisenglass on mine after I bought it. But I replaced it with Strataglass which is more resistant to sun damage and can still be rolled unlike polycarbonate. I also had Uzips put in the side panels. Now is a good time to do the replacement since canvas guys get very busy once the season starts. Good luck.

Congrads on the purchase, you'll love the step up to 320DA. It's a very nice boat.

Mine had the very rare option of custom made camper, which was the huge selling point for us while shopping. We loved it and couldn't see not having it. Here's the link to the thread with some pictures and discussions on this: http://clubsearay.com/showthread.php/44937-Camper-top-for-a-2005-DA320

In short, our campler had great design and was up from spring until fall. It had screens and u-zippers in every pannel (no screens on the front 5 pannels). This allowed to have plenty ventilation while being covered at al times.

Ventilation is something that depends on conditions. On the nice days with mild wind I would have the front and side u-zipper rolled up by the helm. Sometimes also side u-zipper by the port seating and most of the time the rolled up part by the door. This allows most ventilation with most comfort without blowing everything around the cockpit. When the wind is blowing and seas are not very calm and/or when it's colder (usually ocean runs) I have all pannels closed and used the middle vent with rolloed up the pannel by the door. It worked great.

You need to be aware of the station wagon affect, which is present more with full camper. To help me monitor the conditions I installed the CO detector with digital display by the helm (near the speaker). It was a great idea since it helped me catch the raised CO level before it gets in to the cabin. BTW, as a rule of thumb, keep the cabin door closed all the time. Trapped CO will stay there for a while until you open the ports or hatch to ventilate the area.

Good luck.

Our 320DA has the camper canvas and I could not imagine not having it. Ours also has the u-zips and screens on the aft sections...it's really nice. We bought the boat this way and it was a major selling feature for us - we are also coming from a 260DA with a camper canvas.

Good luck with your purchase, the 320DA is a great crusier.

We had a 260 and upgraded to the 320. It is a nice upgrade. We have been very happy with the 320. Congratulations.

Welcome, and congrats. We love our 320 moved up from a 250. I believe no 320 ever left the factory with an installed camper back. It wasnt even an option if you see one it was custom made. I was adding one this season but am selling the boat instead, hopefully, I have had alot of work done to my canvas, all eisenglass, u zips , and new zippers done , if you want you can pm me I reccommend this guy my boat is also on the south shore. If not, best of luck with her....

I would advise to install U-zippers on front panels as well. I used them quite often on hot days. Just having them on the sides won't provide enough ventilation.

When adding the U-zippers ask the canvas shop to add an overlap canvas guard. This is to avoid leakage.

I could use a new set of isinglass for my 2006 320 dancer...keep me in mind if they remain available...Ed

Hi group...can anyone explain to me how the holding tank can be opened for cleaning...I see no access...thanks...Ed

Hi everyone..Question

2003 320, love it, bought is last year and we are very happy. I have a Garmin 545 GPS/Plotter on it now and I am looking at a Raymarine C90W I can get for a very good price. Question is does anyone know if that will fit in the center console between the switch panels. I am trying to make a deal within the next couple of days and I can't get down to the boat soon enough to measure.

The C90 dimensions are 12.3 " W - 7.8 " L - 5.2" D. The cut out for a flush mount would be just a bit lest than these dimensions.

If it can't be flushed mounted what has anyone done where have they placed these mid-size plotters on and locations.

Thanks in advance

I personally think it will not fit in there. I just looked at my pics and there's no way it'll fit. Here's my helm with C70 in there:

The largest I remember seeing in the stbd side panel was C80. I don't think that C90W will fit in to replace C80 Classic. The W units are larger.

Why do you need to open the tank to clean it? Why not just do the following:

1. Empty the tank.
2. Add fresh water (few gallons) in the same hole you do the pump-out.
3. Do the pump-out.
4. Repeat step 1 through 3 couple of times. If that doesn't work, add some washing detergent with water and take her for a shake down ride. Then comeback and do the pump-out.

thanks for getting back...cant say for sure why I wanted to get in there....was watching a cruisers inc owner bleach his out and flush with lots of water....could be stains on the pastic...but it looks like a buildup of solid waste.

Sea Ray recommends putting a cup of powder laundry detergent every so often in the head to help break up any sludge in the bottom of the tank.

Just finalized the deal on a 06 320 (yay!!!!!) I'm shopping for a chartplotter, but I don't have access to the boat for a couple weeks. Can someone tell me the dimensions of the large panel on the port side of the dash?

Also...I had a lowrance HDS 7 on my 260DA and it worked great. But it looks like nearly everyone has Raymarine chartplotters on their 320's. Should I be switching to Raymarine?

Thanks!

I don't have access to panels dimensions but I can give you a good hint. The mid (or stbd side) panel will fit Raymarine C70 (that's what I had), that was the max. The port side panel fits C80. Go on RM website and look at C70 and C80 dimensions.
