Official 320 Dancer Thread

I have been following your posts and you ahve a great set up. I could not afford the JL speakers, maybe down the road. After many attemps to fish the cables I ended up drilling a hole there also. My sub is in the same location, I normally just put my PFDs in there. How did you hook up to Battery?
What size Fuse?

Well I'm back for a little while, and I've cut a 3 3/4" hole in the bottom of my 320, isn't that cool, I don't have pics of the modification, because I did the install so quick this summer, I add an element for the fish finder, Now I can see those little salmon swimming below me... It's going to be so cool...

My application is a little different as my amplifier is only 320 RMS watts so I only need a 40 amp supply to it. I could not see getting more power on my amp when the speakers could not handle it. The JL 650 speakers are 60 watts RMS each so the amp is pushing a little more power than they can handle. The JL subwoofer is 200 watts and my amp will supply 160 to it so I am good there. I took two #6 wires from the amp into the power compartment (behind the 12 volt circuit breakers) and tied into the 12 volt supply post there. This power post has a 6 gauge wire supplying to it and is protected back in the bilge with a 50 amp circuit breaker. I added a 40 amp fuse for short circuit protection and there is also a circuit breaker on the amp board. Now I realize this power post supplies all the 12 volts in the cockpit, but really there is not much of a load down there, lights and refrigerator (while on 12 volts), so there is no worry on my current capacity. Besides I have turned this thing up a bit and I really can’t see me running the amp full out anyway, good lord it gets loud. I left room with the wire and fuse just in case in the future I need to upgrade my power by pulling additional wires to the compartment from the battery directly, but I don’t see the need now.

Your application at 720 watts requires more current for the amp, hence bigger wire, and bigger fuse. You will need a 60 amp fuse and #6 wires and it should go back to the battery as there is really no other place to pick it up. Did you change your speakers? I cannot see them handling that much power and you run the risk of blowing them. You will get sticker shock too when you get the wire, the marine grade #6 wire is not cheap, and you will have a much longer run than I did.

I just bought a 2005 320 Sundancer in November. Moored in Everett, WA. I have been considering camper canvas to replace the slant canvas in the back. Saw this custom job on a boat at the Seattle Boat Show (floating show) yesterday. Not sure I like how many pieces it takes to assemble, but the door zip is nice and lots of space inside. Asked rep and he said it was done by Max Upholstery - Craig (206) 661-1172.

I see 4 problems with this canvas:

-The look
-Way too many pannels
-Not a single screen to protect you from the bugs
-Not a single u-zipper to roll a pannel

Just my .02c.

We don't have bug in the PacNW. ....well not many, but yes we have a few 'skeeters.

Anyway Brady, I think I like that entry panel for the transom door, but the entry points on the sides would be good if they're larger or one piece.

How about a brow that actually extends further aft of the transom with a vertical panel below it. I'm thinking of the same modification when I replace my canvas.

Hello Fellow 320 owners, I thought I'd resurrect this thread.
I am in the process of replacing my old XMD1 with the Clarion M309 unit. I bought a new wired remote (MW1) with extention cable (MW-RXC-RET) and also a extention cable for the USB (CCAUSB) so I can plug the ipods in by the Helm,
a new Clarion APX490M 720 watt 4 channel amp. and a 10 Sub.
The instructions for the amp. say to run new power directly to the battery with a 60amp fuse. There was power to the old little 2 channel amp., couldn't I just use that? Pulling wires is a real pain in the a$$. Have any of you run new power cables to amps, what size wire and where do I place the 60amp fuse?

My stereo upgrade is complete,:smt038, I ended up running #6 marine grade wires (got an awesome deal through Cabelas, $1.49 per ft) direct to the batteries and used a 60amp Minn Kota breaker. Thanks hack4alivin, for your inspiration and
help.:thumbsup:The sound is great!
I kept the four 160 watt Clarion speakers and added the Clarion CMSW10.1 350 watt Sub.

Be careful with those cockpit speakers, that 160 watt rating is most likely peak, not RMS. You amp will put out more than they can handle. Of course you will most like be deaf at that point. Glad everything worked out for you. I have been enjoying mine as well, even if I do have to climb under the shrink wrap for the time being.

The Amp manual says 90w x 4 into 4ohms - which i figured for the cockpit speakers on ch 3+4 and 165w x 4 into 2ohms - which I figured for the subwoofer bridged on ch 1+2
I am not a electronic wizard,:smt101,

What do you think about the sub..... does it not make one hell of a difference! I can't wait to see the look in Sandy's eyes when she feels that seat vibrate!

I’m going to put on "Boom Boom Pow" by the Black Eye Peas!

Here's a few pics of my project. Hack, I hope the Black Eye Peas sound better on your stereo than they did at the halftime show.

I would like to make something that covers the top of the sub out of plastic, so kids don't throw stuff into this storage area and break the sub. I just store PFDs in there anyway.

In my last post I said that I wanted to make something to protect the back of my 10" Subwoofer that is exposed in the storage area under my Port side bench seat, this is what I came up with.
I cut 4 1/2" off the bottom of a five gallon bucket then cut a hole in the bottom useing the same hole template for the sub.

Trimmed the bottom edge for speaker wires and shape of side wall.

Added some 1" foam and WaLa my custom made speaker protector.

Once I put the PFD's and stuff back under the seat I had better base sound coming out of the speaker.

Some folks have rewired their bathroom light to the fan switch. I installed nice LED lights where the cheap plastic lights are over the bulkhead in the cabin. They are less bright than the halogen lights.

I know old post, but this is the setup I have on my 320, love it just had to re-arrange a few of the wires behind the switchs in the head. Bathroom light at night now works, love it !!!!

My Raymarine C80 has been acting up. Over the last month it wouldn't power up at times then when it did it would stary fading away and squiqly lines would show up and now its alsmost dead. Has anybody else had this issue and what can i do?

I know old message, hope you got it fixed, mine did that, the wire tie on mine had broken and the wire harness was coming loose on mine. Was an easy fix. When mine did that at sea all I had to do was power off then back on, or do the "Fonzi" tap on the unit. ;)

On the Clarion upgrade can you start from the beginning for just one point; Did you have to take the whole panel off to get the old unit out? I'm getting ready to upgrade and cant get past step 1. Thanks

Hello all! Not sure if this is the correct place to post this question so any advice is welcome. I have a 2006 320 DA and there is no way to find the shower curtain for the head. I contacted Sea Ray through Marine Max and they stated that the manufacturer had to shut down due to economic hardship, so there is no way they could find one for me. Anybody knows where I can get a new shower curtain for my boat?
Thanks!
