Official 280 Sundancer Thread

How else would you run the a/c while underway?! (That is, if you have a generator)

Tried windlass for the 1st time and everything was great until I was winding her back in and the chain switched to rope. It wouldn't catch the rope so i climbed up front and helped it a bit then it was fine. Ideas? Tighten clutch? Worn rope in the spot if that's possible.

Could be a number of things, weak spring, bent finger post, clutch slip, worn chain wheel, old stiff rope, worn braid.

I also notified my carbon monoxide detector is bad and was unplugged. As soon as I plugged it in it turned red and beeped. Also my halon extinguisher light on the helm is out and I looked at the gauge and its discharged some. Should I have it charged? How do I remove it?

The windlass just needed help only when the chain transitioned to rope. Once I helped it the windlass picked it up no problem. I'll check rope in that spot next time. Maybe it's a little frayed and if so can I fix it ? Hate to replace for one little spot.

That's probably what I need to do. Maybe the splice is worn. I'll check it then maybe cut it and redo it or just try to tighten the unit. Not that I know how too or if that will work. I never had windlass

A new CO detector is needed. From what I remember reading the halon extinguisher cannot be recharged and there was/is issues with fitting in the new bottle.

hi-

I have an 2008 280DA with 5.0 MPI. I notice that if I accelerate over 3k to fast I would get tons of noise and need to back off a little to quiet it down. I assume it's cavitation. Last weekend I hit a rock and I'll need to send out the props and skegs to have repaired. Since then, I took the boat down to quincy to have hulled out, I noticed that now the noise is worse and happens much more easily than before. I assume once the props are repaired it will hopefully be back to where it was before the rock incident. However, is there any solution to this cavitation issue on the 280's? I've heard others complaining about the same problem.

Getting your props tuned to spec should solve your vibration problem

Upgraded my crt tv to a 15 in LED with built in tuner and connected the antenna and turned glomex dial rt and no light. Pulled out and I think the fuse is blown. Small fuse. I'll try to get one and see if that solves the issue.

Fuse I took out of Glomex amp is 250mah. Can't find a 250, only a 500. Is this ok? Online says 3 amp in glomex website but that is prob new model

Looking in eBay, they have aftermarket water pressure sensors for 1/2 the price. Anyone use them with same results as the quicksilver? Wonder if aftermarket also has IAC too.

Also I'm going to change the alpha impellers with complete kit incl housing as I just got the boat and not sure the condition. Prior owner said they were done last season but I'll start fresh

I tried them before I sold my boat last month. One worked fine while the other one failed soon after I installed. I sent a message to the seller and they sent me another at no charge.
