Official 280 Sundancer Thread

Do you mind sharing what they charged you for it? Along with being stainless, it should be covered with some kind of black coating. See post #10 here- http://clubsearay.com/showthread.php/37106-Cruiseair-A-C-Pan-Replacement

I have the parts on order from the local Marina. I didn't ask for prices...... I'll find out next week when they arrive. By the way, the part number for the new stainless pan is 239300012. I'll Take all the photo's in reverse for the install.

The Kohler is a 2 cylinder engine. Don't forget the rear plug!

Koler Genset 5E Spark Plugs: (NGK) BPR-4ES gap: .028-.032

Turned out to be low on oil, I checked the dipstick real good, but it's a cheap plastic one that goes on a lawn-mower, looked good to me. My marina winterized it and didn't put in enough oil in it, they came out for free and checked the genny and added oil. They're AWESOME.

Gotta quote from http://www.snapincarpet.com/ it was around 475.00. I have dealt with them 3 times now and they are a stand up company. They carry the Dunes burber with sunbrella binding and aquatrax back... it is better than the OEM from sea ray..

That aquatrax backing is horrible, that's the reason I need new carpet, that backing is falling apart! I'm going with the "Nu-Wave" backing however, it doesn't come in "Dunes". But I'd rather my carpet last a long time versus just 3 years with the backing turning into black sand all over my deck...

I'm waiting for next season (2015) to replace it with the "Nu-Wave" backing.

I have a PD 2030 charger/converter from Progressive Dynamics i think it was standard issue ?
Mine has bit the dust -the power light does not come on any more along with the red blinking light. What is a good easy replacement? I have read the ProMariner ProTech i 12vt 40 Amp 3 BANK Boat Marine Battery from ebay was a good choice ? Has anyone done the replacement?

Thanks
Ken

I replaced mine with a ProMariner pronautic 1240P. 40 Amp, 3 Bank, multiple charing profiles. The only change needed was for the crip on ends. The Pronautic has bigger connection posts. Simple, and satisfied!.

Thank you Jim!

Jim (from BOE who hosts this site) had a great price on them and may have a boat show sale coming up. Contact BOE and give them a shot at your business! :)

Also do yourself a favor and take the charger with you to the local auto store to make sure the new ends fit the posts and between the plastic dividers between the posts. I had to make 2 trips, and also had to file slight flat spots into the outer edges of the closed loop crimp-ons to get between the plastic dividers.

Question for all 280 owners. Have you ever had the sliding window that's under the port lounger leak? This has happened on 2 occasions now. The window and gasket it slides in look OK and I can't tell where the water is coming from?

Thanks, Perry

If memory serves, it's the same window in my boat and, again if memory serves, there are two small holes in the outer/lower channel to act as weep holes. If those get clogged, then water may backup into the inside. Where is the water coming in? Put some paper towels around the inside (top, bottom and sides) and then spray the window lightly with water (hose) to see where it comes in or have someone on the inside.

Thanks Dennis, I'll check it out. You can;t tell where it leaks form the inside. It drips into the small vinyl covered wrap around in the cabin just below the window. Then it drips onto the aft cushions.

OK, if it's not obvious, the use the paper towel trick. Even if they dry out by the time you get back to the boat, you will still be able to tell if they had gotten wet.

I just put an ad in the classifieds, I am hoping to donate the old canvas from Bella to a new home rather than re-cycle it. Bella is a Phoenix boat, and if you have one you know the headache new canvas can be. Some of the stuff is tired, but all of the front windows were recently replaced with strataglas. The cost is shipping and packing material costs. PM me if anyone is interested.

Water in center of bilge and starboard

Okay....end of our season I found water accumulated in center trough of bilge and some on rear starboard shelf in vicinity of the vacuum generator. Was maybe 2" in trough. No storms and stays in covered slip. Was clear and definitely not lake water or gas or waste from the holding tank. Was clear and no smell. Couldn't find a source but thought it might have been coming off plane too fast and just took on some water (even though it wasn't lake water). Was very puzzled. Sucked it out with a wet vac and has been dry for last 3-4 weeks. Last week I began the dreaded winterizing and drained my water lines; turned air off; and put in pink. I put ~ 6 gallons of pink in the tank and everything was flowing pink. Came down last night to check on boat due to some lower than norm temperatures in Tennessee. Lifted hatch and I have water in the trough again, but more prevalent on the starboard shelf too. Looks like it might be originating on the starboard side behind the holding tank but really still can't isolate it. Looks like it accumulates in rear starboard area and then drains down to the trough area. Still not deep enough to engage bilge pumps. No pink in the water either. Bilge heater will keep it from freezing, but would really like to stop it now. Any thoughts on where the water is coming from?

Have you washed the boat lately? Any chance your neighbor is spraying your boat when he washes his? Could be a rubrail leak or blower cover leak in that area.

I had a similar problem with my previous 280DA and I traced the water to my cockpit sink. I would notice that the starboard side behind the vacuum pump and into the further starboard corner would have water stains from time to time... drove me crazy trying to track it down. One spring day I was flushing my fresh water tank -- poured some bleach in the water tank, filled it, let slosh around for a few hours. I opened the cockpit faucet to drain the tank and while I cleaning in the bilge...low and behold I see water streaming in. I looked at the cockpit sink and noticed there was a gap at the top of sink under the countertop. The faucet was angled toward the back of the sink just enough that some of it was spraying into that gap. My carpet under the sink was wet and water was streaming in from behind the sink cabinet.

Maybe rain water or another source is working into that gap? How about the caulk on the countertop? Is it dry and cracking?

Re: Water in center of bilge and starboard

No washing from me or any of the neighbor boats.

Where (specifically) are you seeing the water on the Starboard "shelf"? Also, how have you determined the bilge water is not lake water? Our lake does not have clear water at all. When I got lake water in my bilge, it appeared clear with no odor and there was really no way to tell the difference short of testing it for the presence of chlorine.

I troubleshot and fixed leaks from about 5 different sources for the first year I had my boat. These were leaks that might drip one drop every 20 minutes but I was determined to have a dry bilge. It takes a lot of patience, work and big time process of elimination, but it can be done.
