Does anyone know how many amps the converter needs under no load? I plan to have my boat plugged in during the winter months but the length of there tension cord is long. At least 100' is needed. I want to make sure I have the right gauge cord so as not to damage anything.

I would recommend you check for voltage at the end of the drop cord. Voltage drops over length despite what gauge cordage you use. Depending on the length of the branch circuit you are plugging in to, you may have too much drop to go that length without damaging something. How tolerant a given appliance is to low voltage depends on the appliance. I am thinking a 12 gauge cord would be needed, 14 may work. You can find charts to show what the drop is per foot on each gauge.

Does anyone have a picture of their steering wheel handy?

You should be able to search your chargers specs on the net. Once you identify that and length here's a nifty calculator set up with ABYC recommendations in mind that you can plunk it into. It appears to me that they're recommending voltage drop be kept within 3 percent. http://www.genuinedealz.com/voltage-drop-calculator

If you have a Costco nearby and are a member, they have a nice 100ft 12/3 extension cord for $43.00. I think it's made by Primewire. I just bought two for my generator. In my case I really need 10/3 and will monitor for heat buildup and current loss, but for you 12/3 should be the ticket.

BTW, I posted this in another forum but got no response, so I thought I'd try here also:

I did an oil change yesterday and noticed a slight leak of maybe a drop or two coming from the oil drain hose, where it attaches to the oil pan. The fitting swivels freely and I was wondering if there might be a worn o-ring that needs replacing. Unfortunately, I had already refilled with the new oil when I realized there it a push-tab at the oil pan, that releases the fitting from the oil pan. Had I seen that earlier I would have pulled the fitting while the oil pan was empty. I suppose if there is an o-ring I can drain the oil again and do the o-ring replacement.

I need to replace the masthead light on the radar arch. It has a Perko 1181 and I am wondering if anyone has found or installed a LED replacement light that fitts the same footprint of the Perko light.

See post 3998 -- Atwood LED 3NM Anchor and Masthead Light

Going back to my door issue. The screw that holds this on is very easy to get to but it seems that SR put the longest track in they could find. This part is secured about 4-6"'s from the end of the door so no need to have a track this long. Is there a trick to getting this piece out and the new one in or can I cut the track an inch or so?

Perry,

I looked at mine the other day and I had the same concern. Would you be able to take photos of the process. I have the same 2005 and I know I will need to do the same one day. I guess I should order the parts soon while they are still available.

Thanks,

Joseph

I have seen this little shelf on a couple of Sea Ray 280's. I can't stand where my C70 multifunction display is mounted and would like to relocate it. Anyone now where this shelf can be purchased or is it custom? Well I can't get the photo to upload but maybe someone knows what I am referring to. It relocates it to the starboard side just above the control panel.

Are you talking about a RAM mount? Here is a picture of mine.

I didn't mean that one but I like that too. Where is it from?

I have a Raymarine C70...

I bought it from BOE Marine. Considering the helm design of this generation 280DA, mounting options for pretty much anything not from the from the factory are very limited.

Jason 78, Where did you get that steering wheel cover?

Madifonzo, I have C80 MFD and mounted in a NAVPOD by PO when I bought my boat.

I'm 185cm tall and set the helm seat in a low height to view outside from windshield but it was obstructing my front view, so I disassembled the C80 from navpod and mounted it to its original U bracket which is less wide and lower than before. Now it is at my eye level and I can see it like the engine gauges.

HTH.

Sure. I ordered the part on Friday and will let you know. After looking at a few pics (Jason's the most recent) it looks as though mine has been fixed before. On the top of my door there are 2 plugs that are covering up the screws that holds these plastic cubes in. Looking at Jason's pics I don't see them on his.

I do have the screw covers as well on the top of the door. They are just hard to see in that picture because the covers are the same color.

OK, maybe they are suppose to be there then. The service manager form MM brought it up to me and then I started looking for them on other 280's.

If you look real close in the pic you will see them. My door has never been repaired. I got from original owner with complete service records.

Yea, I see them now. Cool, good to know. Now i just need to cut the track so I can remove the cube and replace with a new one.
