Just an update on my fresh water tank by camera monitoring system installation. Works perfectly. The IR lighting built-in to the camera illuminates the fresh water tank nicely, making the job of monitoring the tank level almost fun. I was able to snake the power/video cable through the small hole on the starboard side, which is located behind the head wall. That hole is just about closed up, since I installed several cables with my mods. I doubt any more cables can be snaked through that hole, unless it's enlarged somehow. If anyone is interested, here is a link to the eBay auction. It would probably do a very nice job for it's intended function, as a back-up camera, and at $17.00 delivered it's an incredible value.

How about just filling the tank every weekend?

Although I pay dearly for my slip, there is no water. I need to trek over to the gas dock to get water. A real PITA, since the dock really isn't set up for 31 foot boats. So, I basically gas up whenever I need water, since the water seems to run out before the gas.

I have not washed my boat once this summer and it is the cleanest boat on the dock. I use Lucas speed wax and McGuire's microfiber cloth. It would really stink not to have water at the dock. IMO it is time for everyone to pitch in and dig a well.

Can someone explain to me why all generator water systems DO NOT come with a strainer screen somewhere in the line after the impellers to catch any impeller pieces that fall through the pump opening BEFORE it gets into the exchanger? Stupid design imo that these pieces of plastic can flow through so far the water line and end-up trapped in the exchanger.

Just like your raw water pump on your engine, your supposed to change them before they self destruct. I've been told yearly with the gen. impeller

Hello 280 owners. I have made the jump to a 2003 340! Tough decision, but I was looking for some more room and storage space. Loved the blue hull on my 280, along with the great gas mileage, however.....I want to thank everyone here who has helped with with different issues that arose during the time I owned the boat. I look forward to having as much fun on the 340. That being said, I had a brand new aft curtain made, in royal blue, that I would like to sell. I would also like to sell a touch screen Garmin GPS Map 740. It is only 4 months old. I have the box, manual, all paperwork and a Blue chart for Long Island Sound. If interested, let me know. Thanks again, Mark.

This is my 3rd month with the boat and truth be told, I just hadn't had a chance to do it. Lesson learned.
On the brighter side, we did rename her properly, and here's a picture of the admiral and I after the renaming cerimony.

I learned my lesson the hard way the first time, but luckily was able to find all but one of the shredded fins. Changed mine again early this season and one fin was starting to tear (after a season and a half of light ~15/20 hours of periodic use). I think I'm going to stick with a yearly chage, needed or not. I know folks who get way more hours out of an impeller than I did, so I think its a combination of hours of use and lack of use. I imagine that being stuck in one position for a long time between uses has its own toll on the fins that are compressed on the smaller side of the impeller housing.

Side note... Nice graphic/font for the new name. Hopefully the sea Gods will forgive the presence of a speedo during the ceremony! There might be an astericked caveat in the ceremony rules about that. :)

Isn't that what Eldorado means? You have the nads to wear a Speedo?

Hehehe, I figured a 6-year old wearing a speedo wouldn't hurt the cerimony.
Do you think my 2-yo boy wearing only his swim diaper may have hurt it?! <grin>

And no black streaks?!? If not then I will switch to what you are using tomorrow. :)

Like I said, I don't wash I use Lucas Oil Speed wax and a McGuire's microfiber cloth. I clean when I get down on Friday and when I leave on Sunday. I have designed a pole that I can tie the cloth on to clean the hull.

Hey 280 owners,
I posted this earlier, but think it got lost with all the Speedo talk. lol I have a 3 month old dark blue aft curtain to sell if anyone needs it. It was for a 2006, but imagine it would fit other models. PM if interested.
Thanks

Mark - Your mail box is full. Do you still have the Garmin 740? Is so PM me with a price and what town your are in. Nice choice on the 340. I have a feeling we will be trading up in a year or so.

Ahhh, sorry I took it to mean that you waxed at the beginning of the season with the Lucas Oil Speed wax and hadn't touched it since.

Are you talking about the 3 piece camper package with isenglass or the single slant back piece?

I broke the base on my fold down arch mast light. Can you order just the base part, the part that actually screws to the arch.
