Official 240 Sundancer Thread

Thanks Sprkeitaudi, I have my first question of many to come. I've have boats before, but never one with a porta potty. Do I need to put any chemicals in the bottom portion of the potta potty tank? I was at West Marine today and purchased a chemical that the store said gets put in with the water in the top tank. Didnt think about the bottom tank until I got home? Thanks for the Help.

Chemicals in the bottom tank.....YES! I've not heard of chemicals in the flush water tank. The chemicals break down the solids and deoderize the smell.

Congrats on the new to you boat.

I'm going to try something unconventional on my boat to help with the trimming duties. I bought some Nauticus Smart Tabs, the kind that has the shock absorbers for actuators and react automatically. Well, I intend to install them inboard of the Bennett hydraulic tabs. My thought is the Nauticus tabs will react automatically to help with getting on plane and trim set, and I can still use the bennetts to manually trim side to side as I feel necessary. Worse case they fight each other and I have to remove them. I'll post results after I install and run the boat! Wish me luck.

Well, I ran the boat with the Nauticus tabs installed today. It's a different boat. The bow rise is almost eliminated, and my boat gets on plane MUCH easier now. I also can run at 3500rpm now and cruise. The side to side trim still is handled by the bennetts. While running, trim tab adjustments have been drastically reduced. It's a much nicer less stressful cruise now.
I don't want to get to excited yet, but this is what I've been looking for. So far so good.

First picture of the newly purchased 1996 240DA. Drove it through the rough waters of the Barnegat Bay this morning. Boat handled better then I figured it would. So far very happy with my purchase.

Yes, after reading the chemical I purchased, it does go in the bottom tank. Thanks for the info

Hey everyone! just like George295 (congrats!), I purchased 1996 240 Sundancer. Took it out this weekend for the first time and it was amazing. I just have a couple of questions if anyone can answer:

1. The rear bench in our 240 was broken when we bought it and it looks like it was repaired before, incorrectly. I was wondering what you had supporting the rear bench. It looks like we had someone cut two triangle supports out of Marine board and screwed them into the transome. I looked in the old parts manual and saw that there was a something called a "support swing leg"....is that what you have? I called Marinemax and they have one available in their Writghtsville, NC offce. Before i order it, i just want to make sure it's the correct part. I've found a couple online that I can cut to size, but I'd rather have an original part if possible.

2. I hooked up the shore power, 220V, with a 110V adapter to my houses power. It looked like power was getting to the boat, but when i turned on the panel, nothing worked. Is there something else I have to turn on/off as well? maybe another switch elsewhere on the boat?

Thank you in advance!

Hey nsxis77, best of luck with your 240 Sundancer. Had ours out today for the first trip to Tice's Shoals and had a great time.

1) I have a different year model than yours so I don't know the answer to this.

2) I think you are confusing 30amp plug and 15amp plugs. Shore power is all 120v (on small boats). There is a switch at my boat side plug, that has to be turned on to energize the boat panel.

3) Congrats on your new to you boat, enjoy it.

Hey nsxis77, best of luck with your 240 Sundancer. Had ours out today for the first trip to Tice's Shoals and had a great time.

Did you go this past Saturday to Tices Shoal. Aquapolloza was held their this Saturday. 250 boats and 900ppl registrered. I was going to go but coming from the Raritan Bay would of been a 6 hour trek there and back and there was a good easterly wind blow on Saturday so I decided to stay local.

Welcome aboard and congrats on your new boat. As far as your bench I can't help you with that sorry, but I do believe in your model they have do have the support legs or poles. But I am not POSITIVE so don't go off what I say. You can go on Searay.com and look up the part manual for your year to see what you need and you can call searay customer service to verify if needed.

As far as the shore power if you have everything plugged in correctly make sure the circuit breaker is switched to on on the power pole.

Good luck and happy boating.

Thanks everyone! I found the kickstand it's on the way from N. Carolina...apparently it's one of the last ones.

Wont be back to troubleshoot the shore power until August but I'll keep everything in mind...

George...I was at Tices Shoal last weekend, couldn't be a better place to spend a day on the water!

Thanks again everyone!

240 sundancer owners, I have a huge question for you, I have a 2005 and I am having trouble with getting water pressure to the sink in the cabin. I pushed the button with the squiggly line at the helm of the boat where the controls are and the window wippers go on. Could somebody please guide me the right direction on how to solve this program so that I am get frest water to the sink? And also yes I did fill up my fresh water taken.

Please help or email me at tblanch258@gmail.com

Thanks
TOM

Tom, try your wiper button and see if the water pump then works. Maybe they simply were crossed somehow. The Switch cluster is wired and sealed but somehow the wires may have been crossed at the ECM behind the helm.

Spike, your interior cushions are slightly different than mine. Funny the differences between similar year boats.

Island,

I had my boat redone at the begining of this year by SeaRay due to all the issue I had with the boat lastyear. SeaRay tried to make it right and has paid upgraded many thing on my boat. They sent 2 sets of interior cushions for my boat. Hence why I have 2. But below is the interior that i had. The backing were the same color as the cushions on mine.
