Re: Bow Hatch Shade

Hello fellas, I'm new to CSR. I have a 2002 240. Love the boat. Did all of them come with air/heat combo and vacu-flush head like mine?? Was the camper canvas standard too?? Wish it had a bigger motor.

NO, air/heat and vacu-flush were options. My 2002 240DA does not have either. Camper canvas was standard.

I find the 260HP 5.0 to be adequate but more power would always be welcome. For my first boat, it is fine.

I went for a 3 hour cruise with stop / go and full throttle moments. If I recall I traveled approx 40 miles and burned through approximately a 1/4 tank of fuel. Sound about right?

Hello all, Does anyone have experience trouble shooting the water system on a 96 240 DA. The pump runs and continues to run. As soon as I open the galley faucet the pressure bleeds off and only a small amount of water comes out. I haven't seen any leaks but maybe the pump is bad. Any ideas that might help? Thank You,:smt013

Sounds about right to me. My boat is bottom painted and takes about 3000 RPM to stay on plane. Fuel mileage is pretty good if I stay out of the throttle. What RPMs does it take for your boat??? I traded my '01 BAJA H2X which had a 7.4 litre in it /w MPI. It got awesome mileage and planed about 1800R's.

I reach plane right around 3000 rpms depending on conditions and my trim. I usually do a "hole shot" to reach plane and then back off the throttle.

I'm always loaded up with wife, kids, and your Coonhound not to mention foond, drink & stuff. Running at about 3250 rpm seems to be the sweet spot. GPS is right @ 20 knots and I'm burning 10.5 gal per hour.

My 2000 240 DA came with a factory installed battery charger. This year I've opted for dock power, but wondered if I need to set my battery selector to a particular position in order to charge the batteries.

Reading previous threads on the subject, it seems SeaRay changes its wiring almost every year!

By using a volt meter, I found out I have to leave the battery selector on either #1,#2 or "Both" in order to get power to my Mercathode system.

There are 3 different wiring schematics that accompanied the boat, but I'm having a hard time deciphering them, so I don't know which mine has.

Ideally, I'd like to be able to charge both batteries simltaneously, but I don't know if that's possible.

Shore power main breaker "on" and battery charger "on" should hit both of them if it is a dual bank charger.

anyone happen to know the model number of the vacuflush head for a 2002? I'm having issues, power going to switch located next to the head, but vacuflush won't turn on.

Thanks.

I have the SeaLand 28HTS-T vacuflush with a macerator, in the bathroom below the sink there is the panel with the key to turn on the macerator and it looks like there is a display on this panel but it doesn’t show anything, I’m not sure if I have a tank level monitor. I tried to look this up in the user guide and the picture in the guide doesn’t look like what I have, I also went to Sealands web site and couldn’t find the same panel, It’s a beige colored panel with what looks like 2 small round push btn breakers, the key and what looks like a black LED display.

Does anyone have the same set up, if so how does this work?

Good afternoon. I bought a 2007 240DA about a month ago and have already put 20+ hrs on her. I was an avid golfer before this purchase but haven't played since.

I've been reading through pages and pages of threads looking for any information on mounted grills but I'm coming up short. A few of the guys I hang with have a nice mount on their swim deck but they are able to easily get under their deck to tighten the nuts. It doesn't appear to be quite so simple for the 240DA. Any suggestions on the type/size of grill and mounting options? We're headed to Lake Powell in a few weeks and I'd like to be able to grill some good ol' tri-tip.

P.S. No pix yet but I'll get them added soon!

Hi...Welcome. I have a 2009 240 DA which is the same setup you have. Do you have the wet bar on starboard side? I have a Magma BBQ mounted on the top of the side wall of the boat using a Scotty rod holder w/ lid and a Magma adapter for the rod holder. This allows me to swing it out over the dock or keep it inboard. I like this because the wet bar sink is right there and I am not tripping over it in the aft step. SR also suggested a rail mount aft but you cannot have anyone sit in the rear seat when cooking (too hot). I used me BBQ last week end and it was sweet!

Hi Everyone!

I spent about 8 hours today (on and off of course) reading this entire thread!! So much great stuff and good advice too.

We just purchased a 2007 240 DA here in Brick, NJ. Our first boat with 29 hours on it, always lift kept, in immaculate condition. Only thing we would have wanted was AC/Heat but we'll live without it until we can trade up in a year or two. Probably get a big fan for sleeping, any ideas on this?

We're looking forward to getting the boat in the water (hopefully this weekend) but the weather doesn't look like it's going to cooperate. Can't wait to take pictures of my wife and I and Brando (our golden retriever) to post here!

We are also interested in more BBQ ideas if you have them. Specifically all the materials and mounts you use with links to them online if you have them. Also, where do you store it? We are weary of storing anything in the "engine room"

Can't wait to get out on the water!!

Thanks for the information Dave. This site is fantastic for getting first hand information. No, I don't have the starboard wetbar and I think 99% of my grilling will be done while anchored in a cove. My firstmate (and last if I know what's good for me) doesn't want the grill in or over the boat at all. She's set on something that can be done from the swim platform. I may need to look into the aft mount as SR recommends and just not allow anyone to sit in the stern seat. Thanks again.

Here's a pic of my set-up. I thought I posted it here before, but, here it is again.
When not in use, I store it below under one of the seats.
Check out West Marine for a variety of mounts and grills.

Mike, is that mount for the grill in the Navigation Light receptacle? If so, that is ingenius (assuming it's safe and effective). Is there a particular name for the mount? I'm going to West Marine tomorrow.

That is a Perko rod holder and is mounted in front of the navigation light receptacle.
That will cost you extra $ to install. There is another mount I saw on West Marine website that attaches to a rail.
The grill mount I use is the Magma POW’R GRIP Fish Rod Holder Mount
Good Luck!

Where is the location of the rod holder? Is it located above the step or further back?

I have two. One on each side.
Here you go:

For those who are going to ask, those are 2 cup holders on the right side of the pic held on with double-side tape. A great $5 each investment at a local marine store. (The tape is on its third year and holds bottles and cans with no problem.) They close up when not in use.(which is rarely).:smt001

Thanks for posting the picture, that's great. I am considering angling mine out a little. On my 240 I have to contend with the camper top fittings and of course the anchor light, but not a big problem.

I couldn't help myself and bought the searay rod holders. They have a fitting on the bottom for a thread to nipple fitting to attach a drain hose to run to the bilge. I haven't seen those on other rod holders.

I have also started running tubing to all of the cup holders and drain fittings on the boat. It has helped with keeping the storage areas drier.

Well as if the boat wasn't expensive enough and I have all this ca$h to burn I'm considering installing underwater lights. <insert tongue 'n cheek smiley here>. I've been looking at the OceanLED (www.oceanled.com) webiste and like the looks and functionality of the Amphibians line. They come in 3,6 & 12 LED banks (each with a price more than double the previous). I'm wondering if anyone has installed these on their 240 DA and if so, what size and how many did it take to look right. I boat in very clear fresh water so I'm thinking the green LED's would look best. Obviously, 5 of the 12 bankers would look awesome but I'd like a good look for the least amount of money.
