Official 240 Sundancer Thread

It fit perfectly in the entrance from the swim platform to the deck area. I was extremely cautious as this was the first time I have used it out on the water so I didn't run it on the actual swim platform this time. I wanted to keep an eye on it to see how much it moved while we were underway. I had it tied off with a little slack to see if it would shift. Didn't move an inch. So next time i am going to put it on the swim platform on a rug and ratchet strap it down between the back two eyes on each side. It gets the bottom pretty hot while it is in use, so I am going to set it on an outdoor rug to help with that and scuff marks.

Looks great! I may need to look into doing the same. What is that bracket to the left of the shower head? For a flag pole?

Thanks, Yes,thats for my Flag, it's from The Original Swiveler Co. Here in Mass, they make a really nice SS flag pole.

Oh boy. This should start some conversations.

Lol, yeah. I really don't care though!! People will think what they want no matter what the topic is. If they don't like it, then don't do it. If they do, I'll be happy to share my experience.

Ok, so I was discussing with the maintenance shop at my boat dealer about my potty. It is the portable head style. I thought when I purchased it that it had a pump-out option, but they told me today that it doesn't. So my question is, is there a way to convert the current head to a pump-out without going to a VacuFlush? It has all the lines leading out to the pump-out nozzle on the back part of the boat. Or is this already set up for it and it just isnt connected??? I read in the manual that there is an option for a portable head with pump-out. Does anyone know what is required to do this?

OK, so I pulled the head out and took a look. I have two hoses plumbed into the bathroom, but my portapotty is not plumbed to accept the hoses for the pump out option. Is there a part number for a portapotty that has the pump out option?

So you are saying that the Sani-Pottie does not have any coupling holes with screw on caps, and you have to haul it out of the head to empty? If that is the case you'll need to simply buy another one that does. I didn't even know they made them without the coupling holes.

Is sounds as though at some point the original potty was replaced with a different unit.

There isn't much to the pump out connection on the porta-potty, just a plastic fitting that connects the lower portion to the pump out tube.

To be honest, we've never actually used the pump out option on our boat. We only use the toilet for #1, and so far the tank has been big enough to last our longest trips (four days). To empty the tank I'll simply remove the unit and clean it at home. Only takes about five minutes to remove or install.

I'm sure that if someone decided they needed to drop a deuce we'd be glad to have the pump out option. If you are going to purchase a new potty, I'd recommend looking for the one with the larger tank.

Thank you Jack. I have not looked at the list. I see what part I need. Thank you!

Yes GJarrett, i do not have the coupling holes on the bottom portion of my potty. I will use the parts list from Jack F and see if I cant find replacement that has the couplings.

Thanks David. Yes it seems pretty straight forward down there. I think I am going to look around and see what I can find. I would like to have the option to be able to pump just in case someone has to go other than #1. And thank you for the advice on the larger tank.

Both the 230DA we had before and the 240DA we have now had the stupid little 2 gallon tanks that held so little they were almost worthless. One of the first things I did with both boats was buy one with a 5+ gallon tank Definitely go for the larger tank!

Thanks Gerald. Did the new one you bought have the connectors for the pump out option?

Yep both times. Super easy install.

BTW, I sold the old 2 gallon one that came with the boat on Craigslist for something like $25 both times to campers. I'd never buy a used outhouse but hey I guess others don't care. LOL

Do you happen remember where you ordered and a part number?

Yes. We actually had a battery problem (couple of old batteries that the dealer is replacing today) so I was afraid to kill it again in the middle of the lake. As a result, I drove the boat around more than I probably would have had we been able to anchor up. So I got pretty comfortable with how it handles and planes out. Took about 3800-3900rpm to keep plane without the trim tabs down and about 3500rpm using the trim tabs. Held anywhere between 25-30kts depending on the configuration. We had 4 adults and my 10 year old son. The water tank was full of water and bleach to sanitize and about 1/2-3/4 tank of gas. I love watching off the bow and seeing the boat list as it turns. Very cool! I used the generator I bought (Honda EU2000i) to run the A/C for a while (my mother-in-law got hot). Worked like a champ. Just a heads up if you use this type of generator and put it on economy mode, it will cause the A/C condenser to kick on and off. So I just took it off of econo mode and it worked perfect. They even went down and took a nap while I cruised around the lake!! Over all a great first outing.

Oh boy, now you've done it. A portable genny being used on the boat is sure to cause a ruckus.

I found a SeaLand SaniPottie 965MSD from Defender. I think this is a direct drop in replacement for the pottie currently in my boat. My question is... are the MSD connectors universal?
