Official 240 Sundancer Thread

I read back so looks like some people complain about stability or they feel like it lists too much, has there ever been a real problem with it though? or is it just something you have to get used to?

More like something you have to get use to and if you trim the tabs right you can trim the list out easily. Just takes time to learn.

Thanks, the list I don't think will really bother me, as you said, just something to get used to.

Knowing the boat as you do now, would you buy it again?

The boat I'm looking at is an 06 that is loaded. 350 mag/bravoIII, gps/charter, stereo, TV/DVD, vacuflush, etc with 240 hours on the motor. The dealer is asking 52.9k What do you think of the price for this boat? Boat is certified and dealer is throwing in a 2 year warranty in with the deal along with paying off my present boat.

Think they are giving me 3-4k over normal price for my present boat.

They also have an 05 260 with pretty much all the same options but has the gen too and they are asking 59.9k for.

I would prefer this boat but I don't know if I want the added payment for it. I'm already going from a 225 /month payment for my boat to one about 405 /month, the 260 would make my payment like 465 /month.

What do you guys think?

I would keep looking, that price for a 2006 240 is too high.
I loved my 240 and just sold it for the same price I bought it 2009, which was less than the price you mentioned.

Good luck.

240 was a great boat for us and our kids. I would not buy it again though as I want something bigger. THat being said that price if a bit high. I wouldn't pay anymore than 40k USD.

I'd go for an earlier 260DA, I moved from a 250DA to a 280DA (love the 280) but it's the fastest boat I grew out of, next move will be at least 6-8 ft larger .JMHO

If your set on a 240 there's one here in Deland, Fl, 05 with 235 hrs, 5.0 bravo 3, a/c, no bottom paint, and nice aluminum tandem axle trl for 29,900 on Ebay.

There seems to be some big differences in prices on this boat. I think I'm going to wait a bit longer before moving to another boat. I would have prefered a boat that was a little bigger and had a gen. Maybe mid season I'll be able to get into one.

Thanks for the info.

It a funny thing, I wrote a long response to this and I took to long to post it and it timed out. Probably a good thing, as I would have regretted my response! haha
Do what is in your heart and what your head is telling you.

I would not buy this boat again!

Hello all my name is Charles and I'm the proud new owner of a 2007 240 sundancer. It's in beautiful condition due to being owned bye an older couple who had money and never used it and had it super well maintained. I have a few questions and will ask later I'm just doing an intro with a couple pics if it'll let me. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1361330398.018248.jpg

Dave you are so right!

I have to admit, the sales folks at Hall marine tried to tell me to start with a 280da, but I was smarter than they were. Me and my hard head did this to me. I kept asking questions waiting for the answers that I wanted to hear......versus what I needed to hear.........as most people do!
I'm living with my mistake, and making do.

Maybe one day I'll bite the bullet and sell/trade this boat. Untill then I'll keep fussing. haha

Island, Boating is suppose to be fun and the boat you have should make you love it. If it doens't get out of it and get something that does. :)

You can pick up a fully loaded dual engine 280 for under 50K all day along off Craigslist. I looked at several on Lake Travis before I purchased mine about five months ago. I also know of a loaded 280 on Lake Texamo with a trailer for less than the 59.9K you mentioned.

Thanks guys for the answers to my problem, but the bigger problem is.....I'm so upside down in this boat, and values are so down that a trade is not an option. I'd have to plunk down 30-40k to make a trade.
I know to most of you that's chump change, but to me it's a show stopper. I can afford the payments I have, but then that's the story most have like me.

I'm putting up with the quirks of this boat, (I've adapted pretty well, the handling just annoies me to no end) and I'm saving my boat bucks to upsize to a 40ish trawler.......one day.
I spent some money upgrading this boat, ie windlass w/bowroller, and custom swim platform, that helps. The boat is very usable, and does what I need it to do, I just don't like the handling. That said, it has carried me to the Bahamas, and Abacos many times, safely. A feature this hull was not designed to do, so maybe I just ask to much from a design that was never intended to do what I do.
My thoughts at the time of purchase was a small boat that had alot of features, but was easy to trailer to Florida, and the coast from Charlotte, NC.

Thanks for the thoughts though. I'm sorry if I offend anyone who enjoys their 240's.

we love our 240 that we bought last year. although we knew from the start it was our 'starter' boat. a few years learning how to handle this and we're buying one of those 370 ventures! once we get our last kid off to college we're planning to be boating a lot.

Does anyone have, use, or want to share an opinion of an extended swim deck? Pros, cons?
