Official 1998 Sea Ray Sundancer 290 Thread

I drop the hammer and drop the nose then pull back to 3800 rpms and run ar 27 - 29 mph. Not a big fan of running WOT. a 1998 boat should be run like a old lady. Hit it hard then back off and enjoy the ride. I have run both aluminium 4 blade and SS 3 blade. The 3 blade runs better for me but i also run in the bay and ocean andnot on a lake.

This might help ya

Well if the numbers from your survey are true your 4 blades can probably be tuned to get that extra 100 rpms.
It's not important that you run there, only that you can get there. Ya know, like Jeff said. Lol
If my engines see the high side of 2000 it’s because the Queen has reached for her Marg and slipped

I think I may have answered my one of my own battery questions. I have this it’s a two bank charger, any bets it’s only tied to the starting batteries?

EDIT (after Jeff's post) Where did you get the 4300 from GirlyGirl?

Actually I think my 4 blades are stainless as well. You let me know.

That's a newer charger so you are probably good to go.

Follow the leads. One should be going to the dual battery bank (house/port motor) and the other should be going to the stand alone battery (starboard).

EDIT:

I stand corrected after reading the directions for your charger. Please look at the documentation and see if it's wired correctly.

Ted, as soon as I get the port engine trim fixed so it’s in the water! I’ll report our performance. Here’s what the survey report came back at.

“The engines started easily with no smoke or oil sheen present. The vessel cruised at 25 MPH turning approx. 3500 RPMs and achieved 30 MPH at WOT turning approx. 4200 RPMs.”

It has 4 blade aluminum props, PO gave me 3 prop stainless if anyone wants them.
Props are gone by the way

Thanks Ducky, I’ve saved it. I glanced through as I am heading off to work. Thanks again!

Does anyone know approximately how many amps/watts the air conditioner draws? Looking to grab a portable generator for a trip in August and wondering what I can get away with?
Yikes Ted, you have opened the absolute bucket of worms. But I’ll put my nomex underwear on and say the Honda EU 2200 will run JUST the a/c also Harbor Freight has an equivalent for significantly less Hmmm wonder why, I love HF for stuff I don’t use all the time. So do your research, watch the YT videos, I said it before, one of the “must haves” when I was boat shopping was a genset
