Official (1998-2002) 310 Sundancer Thread

Thank you all for the terrific advice and comments. It turns out that av8ingtom was right all a long. I took out the IAC and cleaned it out really well,re-installed it and voila, engine starts and idles just fine. av8ingtom,can i get your cell number and have you on speed dial? lol. This is definately a learning curve for me,but i'll get there eventually!!

We are all here to help each other, and we all learn a lot from each other. I personally have learned so much from CSR. Glad to hear you have it fixed. You can PM me anytime.

I just returned from a great weekend on Martha's Vineyard with the family. Unfortunately, when we left to return starboard engine stalled after after both had been running for a couple of minutes as I got ready to drop my lines. Went to restart and an awful squeal came from it and no water pumped. Shut it down and checked seawater pumped, pretty seized up. I did not have the spares on board so we limped 25 mikes on the port engine at 8 kts. The boat handled great on one engine And got us home without a problem. Once again proving the 310 is a great boat.

Hello 310 owners,
Has anyone added an Electric outlet to the cockpit on the SB side. I think the hollow space behind the cupholders (in back of the helm seat) would be perfect.
Anyone know where the best place to tap into another outlets to extend the AC to a new outlet would be?

I have not but, have thought about it.
Mine is a 98 so not sure if it is the same layout as yours. I think on my 98 you could go straight accross under the floor and tap into the outlet on the port side by the sink.

In furthering my plan to have an AC 110V outlet on the SB side of my cockpit. I lie the idea of just extending the outlet from the Port side. Does anyone know what type of wiring is used in a marine application for 110VAC wiring. I know you don't use house style wire, but everything I find is for 12VDC wiring.

Hi gang- I've go a 2000 with v-drives and a vacu-flush head. The holding tank seems to have an overboard macerator pump, but it doesn't seem to be pumping anything out. I have turned off the head system and pressure water, and opened the bowl valve. Is there anything else I should be doing? Thanks.

Is your sea cock open? I hope you are trying to pump this in the ocean and not fresh water.

You should use stranded wire that is tinned. I believe you can get it at West Marine.
they also have a gauge chart on their website to tell you the size you will need.

Hello. Looking to get into a 310 dancer in this year range. I see some with inboards, some with I/O's. Cabin config differs as well. I want inboards. see most have 350 mags. Is there a big block option? How do the small blocks do in this boat? Whats with the different cabin layouts? certain years have the dinette? curved sofa? Just trying to narrow my choices.
Thanks.
Gary

hi; the slang term for the curved couch model was the jack and jill head. these were the first of this model year, and maybe second. they went away and the open floor plan came out. a matter of preference to which was best. personal we like the open arrangement best.
the curved dinette models would be the older ones in the series.

they came in v-ee drive configuration and I-O. the only 7.4's i have seen are I-O. not saying you couldn't get a big block with a V drives, but haven't seen one.

not that many I-O with big blocks but they are out there. at least when we got ours we looked for awhile before we found ours.

i like the torque from the big thumpers. you don't have time to worry about adjusting trim tabs or getting on plane. bump up the throttle and your there.

i am a I-O fan for the clearance to beach, extra room gained in the engine compartment, over all speed and handling, like the twin prop B-3, and we trailer our 310 a lot.

the one advantage i have seen with the V drives is, watching them dock and slip, they seem to handle a little better at slow speed.

this model is old enough that i would consider the shape and care of the boat over the model year. hours on engines, gen set and over all condition of boat.

ours gets just at 1 gallon per mile at 28 to 30 mph. this is from a gps so speed and distance are true.

best of luck garry owen

!998 was the first year and had the wrap around sofa you have to climb over to get to front berth. This model also had a door for the aft cabin and i believe the head on the starboard side.
99-02 has the dinette and open aft cabin and head on port side.
Mine is a 2002 with 350 V drives. I cruise at 26 mph and top speed is 34 mph.
I boat in salt water and V Drives are the way to go for me. Less maintenance and better handling around the dock.
Mine has the Cherry Cabinets too I don't like the ones with the white cabinets.

I concur that the 350 v drive is a great boat and very easy to handle around the dock. The open layout is roomy but like most sun dancers, there's not a lot of privacy. I am impressed that cfd95 cruises at 26 mph. I cruise closer to 23-24 burning 20 gals/hr.

Hello all, I have been lurking these forums for a while and have found a TON of useful information but I have an issue that I cannot figure nor anybody else that has looked at my boat so I figured I am going to post it here in hopes someone else has dealt with the same issue.

I have a 2002 310 with twin 350 FWCs w/ VDrive setup.

My starboard motor will run fine for a while with zero issues. The problem is about 30 minutes to 2 hours (completely random). It will simply die. There is absolutely no power at all to that side. My work around has been to make a small jump wire from the port switch to the starboard switch (on the dash) and this will allow the motor to run. The volt meter seems to jump around on that side a lot 11-13ish volts vs the port side which stays pegged 13.5-14. I have looked over the diagrams until my eyes bleed and the only thing I really see is there is breaker that sits on top of the motor, I am thinking maybe it is getting hot and then starts doing something crazy?

There is absolutely no issues starting the motor ever. It always starts in the factory configured wiring setup but I have to do the dashboard switch jump when it dies...always in the middle of the channel or sometimes while docking which is sketchy. This leads me to believe there is no real issue with the ignition since it always starts in the stock wiring configuration.

I am not really sure but it is a very frustrating problem to have as I've only owned the boat since about May (took delivery in June) and this is the only issue I can't seem to fix or find any information on.

Did you check the relays on top of the motor.
Ones for the fuel pump other is for ECM
They're mounted on a bracket on left side riser if you're facing rear of the boat.

Do you have a part number for these? I do not see them in the parts manual that sea ray has online.

Anyone know what model the nor cold refridgerator is on a 2002.
I have cherry cabinets and black front panel on fridge,
I want to get the cherry front panel to match and the hinge repair kit.
