:smt038Surveyor is the best bet. But if that isn't the case. Engine temperature, review water exit volume, Blige area conditions, Have the alarms been removed, engine rust, engine hours, maintenance records is a good indicator of PM / care. Can the engines be scanned - this will provide some history of use. Have the engine been changed or are they factory. Last overall maintenance to include bottom paint / hull conditions. And last is it insured, by who and have there been any claims on the unit. Also a very good indicator if there have issues and or incident / accident / repairs. Just a few items to think about. Good luck, hope all go's well. I have the 2000 31 and my wife love it.

I will have a hull and engine survey but before that I have the sea trial and I want to make sure that the basic performance is OK before spending money on the survey. That's why I am asking, as an example, what the RPM should be at WOT (props and bottom are clean).

Where is the fresh water indicator located...having a senior moment......Thanks....

There is a switch between the two main cabin electrical panels. At least on by 2000 model. The indicating panel is dark so you will only see the water levels as it is turn on. Also it will also lite when it is empty. (Check right in the center of the two panels) Hope this helps.

Looks really nice, I recommend installing a good carbon monoxide alarm unit since you did not have a gen set before. There are a few new models out there. I have the fab unit and I purchased a second plug in unit that has a battery backup. It's good safety. Also I didn't have a grill at the hull trough hole to avoid something getting stuck down there. Added one this year. My engines has them but the gen set didn't it's another plus.

Has anyone replaced the cable TV wire from the arch to the amplifier area? If so, what is the route? I see the wire leaving the amp, heading past the head, so I figure I can snake into the closet in the aft berth area. My biggest problem is that I can't find a way to get to the arch without disassembling major things. I am pretty sure that the cable comes down from the arch into the area where the port fuel tank is, because if I remove the small light in the wet bar area, I can wiggle the cable wire from the fixture hole.

In any event, if you have ever run a wire into the port side of the arch, please let me know how you did it!

Thanks in advance!

I havent replaced mine. But I just installed a new radar this weekend. I had to run 2 wires down the arch to the dash.
Anyway my TV antenna cable goes down the starboard side of the arch and runs into cabin on same side.
I would assume yours is the same.
Remove the side panel by the helm it reveals all the wiring running into the cabin and coming down from arch.
also move the vinyl panel above the speaker in the arch its held in with push in tabs.
This will reveal the hole where the wires from the arch go through.
As far as the cable route in the cabin I can't help you there.
I would cut the old cable at the arch tape the new one to it and pull through the arch using the old cable.
There is a round panel in the ceiling of the aft cabin I don't know if this will give you access under the dash.

My boat is a 1998 not a 2002 so it may be different.
I have replaced my cable. It runs down the arch to the port side then they ran the cables down the port side behind the electrical panel and the sink cabinet.
Where is your TV located? I would think that it would be run down the side that the TV is on. Your cabin lay out differs from mine.

Yes, that's what it seems like to me, as my TV is on the port side.. What was your method of replacement? Did you have to take out the sink cabinet? I was really hoping not to.

Cfd95, I installed radar last season and I thought that was the TV cable, however, on my boat that cable was for the FM radio antenna.

No, I did not need to remove the sink or anything else. If your old cable is still in the arch just pull the new one through with it.
If the cable is not there run the new cable down the arch and the find the end and pull it through with a wire or snake. You will probably need to remove the panel where the old cable comes through to the TV in order to pull it. It was a very simple job to do mine.

My old cable is tie wrapped all along the way, so pulling the new one in with the old one won't work. I can drop a new one down, but where will it be running? Basically, I can't figure out how to get from the arch into the cabin without taking major things apart.

I really cannot remember as it has been a couple of years ago. I do have a cabinet on the port side under the arch. Maybe that is where it ran. If you have not figured it out in a couple of weeks PM and I will check mine when it comes out of storage.

OK, will do!

Thanks,

I know this was a long time ago but what did you discover was the issue? I have a 1998 and it is giving me random alarm sounds with no instrument indication as to why, sorry forgot to quote.
I am having an issue with random helm alarm buzzers going off. Anyone experience this?

Need some help on a Port Engine Problem please...
1999 310DA with 5.7 TBI Bravo 3, 290 hours, freshwater only.
Here is the issue...

When under power, at any RPM, intermittently the port engine alarm sounds off for a couple seconds from behind the dash like there is an engine problem. Also, not every time, but sometimes when the alarm goes off, the engine actually hesitates and drops 100 RPM or so then recovers, along with sounding off the alarm again.

What I have done so far...

I have pulled the main wiring harness from the plug, cleaned it out, pried the prongs, added dialectic grease and put it back together. Unplugged the gear lube bottle to see if that was setting off the alarm, it was not. I had a marine mechanic plug in a diagnostic machine to test for codes and it did not set any off when we went for a ride, nor did it show history of any alarms. Before I put it in the water, I replaced all filters, plugs, cap, rotor, fluids, pcv valve.

Has anyone experienced this and if so, where do I go from here? Is it possible it is a brain box? A sensor? Ideas and help VERY much appreciated.

Thanks vida I will take your advice and getting a back up carbon monoxide detector

Have you checked all your fluids dt0116 I once had an io the drive fluid was a tad low and would sound the alarm when the boat pitched or I accelerated
