Official 1980's Weekender/Sundancer 300 thread

When I take mine out, I have a place local that does plastics. I'll take it up and get a price on replacement.

Has anyone replaced the older style porthole windows with the new style that that opens? Can it be done?

I wonder about this also. If the cut out is the same I don't see why it wouldn't work.

The problem I see with this is that the old ports are really wide (from fore to aft) and narrow (from top to bottom). It wouldn't be a problem to cut new ones to fit, but I haven't found any that would be long enough. Tougher to put fiberglass back in to fill the gaps.

My concern would be the thickness, the opening ports sandwich and the non opening ones just screw to the hull.

I am new to the forum and have just completed reading all the posts on the Official 1980's Weekender/Sundancer 300 thread. It was great fun to see what fellow owners did with their Sea Ray 300s.

I have had mine for about 20 years, it is still a perfect boat for us and would like to share some of the "improvements" I have made. For instance I had Bennet make longer trim tabs with "down wings" (twice the force) so the boat can get on a plane very quickly and plane at 12 knots.

Thanks for all your posts. I learned a lot from them and now have new improvements to add...

Started cleaning and waxing the cockpit today while under the wrap. Feels great knowing that in a month I should splash!

I'm still waiting just to get my feet dry! Travel lift is still under repair. I've got packing and aniods still to do.

Hope they test that lift with another boat first!

I figured that would be the replacement cost for an 88. I got very lucky to find her at 9

Mark, which seats do you have? Are the the back to back style?

Single helm and back to back port side.

I want to remove the helm seat and replace it with a chair, do you think that engine hatch would support something like that? I have back to back on both sides and they weigh a ton

I think it would work, there is room between the motor and hatch to glass in a piece of 3/4 ply for added support.
