Moving on to the next small fix. Has anyone removed the old steps that lead into our cabin? Can you post me a picture of what and how you did it? Please?

I'm curious: the top step comes off to access the shower/head seacock. There are many screws holding the bottom step in place. You have to feel for them through the carpet.

Mine has six screws, three on each side that hold the bottom in place.
I've picked up some cypress to make the tread out of. Once sanded down I will add a silica to the last coat of sealer for traction

My neighbor called and said a motor was running. Found my aft bilge pump float stuck on. Pushed it down and the pump shut off. Cleaned debris from the bilge area. Pump turns on with the helm switch but no longer turns on with the float switch. Is there a fuse or anything else to check on the float switch or is it toast? Thanks!!

Sounds like it's shot. Had the same situation, replaced the switch, no more problems with switch in automatic. Good luck

That’s what I figured. How in the world did you get down in between the engines? I can’t get my fat head in between the engines.

I snaked my way down there and kept my cell phone in reach in case I got stuck! It takes more time getting out then getting in.

Put boat in for the season today. I find my aft main bilge pump won't come on when the float rises and won't come on with the helm switch. The red light on the dash lights up to show the float is calling for the pump to run but it's not. Also, my bilge pump counter registers the event so I'm guessing there is power to the pump. I need to put a meter on it tomorrow, Iran out of day light. Where does thisbpimp get its power? I want to check the fuse first. BTW, the high water pump does come on when I pull up on the floatvsovits hot power. Hoping I dont have to wriggle down there to swap the pump out.

If I remember right there is a panel of circuit breakers and one of them is labeled bilge pump. The panel is on the stbd side of the bilge just fwd of the batteries. My actual pump is up high bolted to the transom on the stbd side. Only the switch and pickup tube are all the way at the bottom of the bilge. Hope it’s something easy for you!!

I found a butt splice that pulled apart, probably when I was installing the new shift cable in that area. Simple fix, all better now.

That’s good to hear. I am away from my boat for 2 weeks so I had a local mechanic throw a new float switch in mine today. Bad news is he said the aft bilge pump bearings are going out and it will need replaced soon. I believe it is the factory one. It’s mounted up high on the stand side of the transom, has a pickup tube that leads down to the bottom of the aft bilge. I would assume it’s a diaphragm style pump. Would anyone know the exact part number of the pump so I can order one? Thanks!!

It’s almost always the connections. They either corrode, get brittle and break, or get in the way and get broken by accident.
Glad it was an easy one for you!

Has anyone tried to use tile on the boat?

I've finished building the new steps using Cypress step with Berch kick boards. I'd like to use Sea Glass that has been backlit. The lighting is not a issue but the tile is. The thin set must be flexible and the grout would have to be a silicone base. If anyone can help thank you

    Hi Everyone,

I am shipping my 1987 Sundancer 300 from Indiana to Cali and the driver is requesting a vertical height of the boat. Of course, I can't find this spec anywhere and Sea Ray isn't helpful. I don't have the spoiler on my boat, so the highest point is the top of the windshield. Any data you can supply would be much appreciated.
