We were trailering out 260 home from Maine yesterday and I saw a rather strange thing on the highway. I came up on what I thought was a plain-Jane 20' box truck with the rear, roll-up door opened up... inside was a car - maybe an older Taurus or something else that really didn't catch my interest.

But here's the strange thing... This 20' box truck was being towed by another 20' box truck... but this "tow vehicle" also had the roll-up door opened and there was a Grand Cherokee inside this one!

As I passed it, I noticed that both vehicles inside the box trucks were NOT tied down and were bouncing/jouncing around pretty good:wow:. I was VERY glad I was now past this set-up, which I'm sure was completely legal. This was also night-time and I suspect the driver was performing this tow at night for a reason...:smt119

Or..... A cheap used car lot (like one of mine) taking home a couple of auction purchases.

I have done about 40 large commercial remodel projects in different parts of Texas for work. For these we have to drive for various equipment and such.
I have learned that these guys load up trucks like you saw and create a convoy and head to Mexico. They drive from all over the country and head South. Once they are across the border, dealers buy them up and pay top dollar. We've seen these guys tow SUV's with Volkswagen Jetta's. Whatever runs does the towing. It never looks safe.
