odd problem with freshwater system

I tried it with the cap off and all i got was air bubbles in the water, the o ring was missing so i replaced it.drained the tank again with only a minute of bubbles then clear water.Filled and drained twice more same thing .Dont know why just the way it happened .mabey he has as mine a lot of pink stuff in his system too?

Huh??

It does show the symptoms of sucking air some where between the pump and the faucet that is turned on but why does it allow pressure to build when the faucet is turned off and not leak. It can't be sucking a connection tighter as there is pressure it would leak. This is why I thought the vent might be plugged and the tank is starved for air. Take the fill cap off and try the water this would rule out the plugged air vent for the tank. The filter on the pump if dirty would only restrict flow not cause it to spit like you are running out of water. If the pump was going then you would have the same problem with pressure on the hot water side. This is perplexing, I hope you do let us know when you find out what the problem is and others keep posting suggestions.

Sucking air = leak before the pump (vacuum leak)
Water leak= After the pump- (pressure leak)

Turn on any faucet, hot and cold separately, and watch for bubbles in the clear plastic strainer right before the pump.

If no air is visible in the strainer, perhaps it's possible that the pump is somehow sucking air through a failed seal and introducing it into the water stream. I've not seen that before, but I suppose it's possible? I'd replace the pump/valve assembly and see if it solves the problem. They look like this:
