October weather

Saturday was outstanding! Quite possibly one of the best days on the water all year. It was sunny, 70°, and the Bay was as flat as you’re going to get. Very glad we got out and spent the day on the water! The next day, Sunday, was not a good boating day. Fortunately we spent that one at the stadium. Sunday was good football weather…

The secret to dealing with poor boating weather is to buy an all weather boat. AC helm with heat, a hardtop, no isenglass in front and good wipers. We boated in all kinds of weather from April to October wearing mostly summer clothes. Bad weather keeps the crazy people in the bars and you have the water to yourselves.

That’s good advice. But until I can afford a Sabre or Back Cove, I’ll live with the fully enclosed helm on my sedan bridge. I may need to don a sweatshirt, but other than that I’m OK. I love fall boating!

Last Friday and Saturday were perfect!

But yes, it has been pretty gloomy lately. And winter is coming ...
That water looks familiar :)

You and me both

Daughter has van. Bring home Suzuki tomorrow, zodiac Sunday. I give up. Done. Dammit. I wanted one last ride, ain’t happening.

Going to be nice this weekend.

I'm headed to St. Michaels again, this time, possibly for the last trip this year. Not last boat ride, but trip.

Oyster festival and Halloween, right? Say hi to Mad Maxx if you see him there. Not me, but ones we boat with. Good people. 420DA with a blue hull.

Yes, Oyster fest and Halloween. I am staying at Higgins this weekend, was at St Michaels last weekend. But we go to Foxy's so I will look for him and say hi.

Supposed to be in the upper 60s this weekend, unfortunately I'm stuck home so no boating. We have a trip planned next weekend to National Harbor in DC, weather is looking to be in the low 70s. That was supposed to be our last trip, might need to squeak another one in with these temps. I lost 3 months of boating with the engine overheating issue, got to get some more in

This is awesome. The gods are looking at us favorably. We got a call this morning that after being waitlisted for two months a slip in St Michael's opened up for us!

We are booked at Higgins next weekend, maybe we'll run into each other, providing it doesn't rain again ...

I like your attitude. I used to love fall boating. And winterizing on thanksgiving weekend never bothered me. Those days are gone.

That is my schedule now, at least for the foreseeable future.

It's been raining every weekend here for weeks. Between that and fall sports, no boating time.

Yesterday I started my winterization. I had people tell me to wait, next weekend is supposed to be sunny and warm. I'm booked the next 3 weekends so that doesn't work, so my season is done.

I tried to get one last ride in around the harbor as a way to warm up the oil. But the wind was howling, and no way I could get off the dock safely.
