We had tons of thunderstorms rolling through last night and this am, so we were the only ones at the island. We went for a walk on the beach this am collecting trash (standard). When we arrived back at the boat, I took my swimsuit off and was getting ready to put my shorts on when 5 helicopters came up off of Tyndall AFB.

2 of them stayed north of the sound over the Tyndall Golf Course while three others came straight down the beach. When they spotted our boat, they split with 2 of them heading north of our boat and Obama cruising staight down the island. No doubt, a tactical maneuver to confuse any potential attacks.

When I first saw them, I quit doing what I was doing (putting shorts on) and grabbed the camera wearing nothing but a shirt, and a smile.

I'll post the shots ASAP (of the helicopters). When I turned to film the 2 choppers which split North, I think I mooned the president. No doubt, being the only boat at the island, they were looking right at us. Sorry, it was a mistake.

John, You'll be on the news tomorrow for the stunt . :smt043

Finally, Someone got to show the moon to the POTUS and not get arrested...

So thats why the Secret Service issued an arrest warrant for you this morning.

They consider that a threat to the life of the Pres and you are wanted for treason.

Sorry, next time get those pants on!!!!

LOL!!!:smt043:smt043

I would have tried to turn this into a You-tube sensation (or youporn) if I didn't need one more day of active duty service to get a 20 year retirement. Timing is everything.

But.......I still have to wonder why it takes 5 helicopters to move the Pres, his wife and one child 3-4 miles from Tyndall to the Navy Base/CG station?

My guess is that they feel exposed along the coast. Boats can go anywhere compared to cars and trucks being limited by roads and traffic. Also, any unusual activity on the back of a boat would likely go unnoticed compared to setting up a launcher in the back of a truck.

Being exposed, they have decoys flying along with the pres. to dilute the threat and to get more eyes out looking for threats. That's likely why they split when they happened upon my boat at the island. Additionally, they have support in the event something does go wrong - both in firepower and rescue.

He saw my bum. Michelle probably said, "Damn! That's one white ass!" (And she doesn't even know me.)

<"... I think I mooned the president...">

SO.......There were 2 asses in the area................................

Just saying.

We got stuck just off the St Andrews Park Boat ramp by Coasties which declared a 300 yard National Security zone so Obama could take a dip at the Marriott's Beach. Searide and his family were with me and had a zoom and got a shot of the three of them in the water. We idled for about 30 minutes waiting on them to take their bath and get out.

That was us waving at you John, I had gone down to lands end for some peace and quiet, not that it wasn't pretty quiet at Shell Island anyway. Very view boats compared to what are usually there.

Best regards

There are always 5 helicopters in flight. Two are decoys, two carry military special ops, and one has the POTUS and family.

We had fun. Hope you did too. Had to leave Sat PM to come to Atl early Sun for training. My buddy, Jay, was there Sun AM when the pres buzzed him going the other way - similar story.

Too much rain Sunday morning and the weather just did not look promising enough to come back out so I took the boat back to the marina, flushed, washed, dried and stacked.
