I'm planning to make this trip this season. Would like to take 1 week to get there, 1 week in Boston(Marina Bay), and 1 week for the return.

Anyone suggest some nice overnight points(390DA) along the way....thinking CT shore on way there and LI shore on return.

Any other words of advice/recommendations greatly appreciated. I'm planning on this trip the last two weeks of July and first week of August.

Many thanks,
Tom

If you want to stop as far north as MA, Oak bluffs or edgartown on Martha's Vinyard are very nice places to see. They are busy that time of the summer so plans must be made a few weeks in advance to get a slip. Moorings are a little easier but are often rafted 3 wide. Oak bluffs is about 1-2 hours cruise off your route on your way to the west end of the cape cod canal. Edgartown is another 30 min form there. Well protected harbors. Probably about 5-8 hour cruise from there to Boston depending on your choice of cruise speed.

3 weeks is a great vacation and allows for plenty of exploring......Here is just a quick two (2) week itinerary that you could incorporate into your extended cruise.....

definitely Newport and Plymouth.

Thanks all. Looking forward to it. Will take some pics and log the places. Hadn't considered going outside the cape for sake of time, but seems like its very possible. Love that water.

I live in Boston and am about to purchase a larger boat. I am excited to hear everyone's feedback on this one.

Still enjoying our trip. We departed Haverstraw Marina in NY(approx 20 miles north of the Tappan Zee bridge) on Aug 2. First stop and overnight was Milford CT. Next day depart to Shelter Island for an overnight raftup with a slew of other sea ray boaters as part of the Northeast Flotilla. Departed SI two days later and docked at Block Island for a couple days. Next departure was to Newport, RI for 3 days at the marina and heavy shopping/eating. Departed for Boston on the 10th and had great water all the way from Buzzards Bay through the Cape Cod Canal and in to Sunset Bay Marina in Hull, MA for an overnight stay. Last leg of the trip was a very short ride to Marina Bay in Quincy, MA on the 11th of August where we are still at the dock today. Great marina here and the boating around Boston Harbor offers just so much. Many spots to overnight on the hook with just spectacular sun rises and sunsets.....plenty of water wild life to see as well.

We depart back for NY on the 10th with planned stops at Ptown, Oak Bluffs, Watch Hill, Port Jefferson, and finally back to home marina of Haverstraw by the 15th.

Thus far, the journey has been outstanding....weather and hardware wise. Hoping for the same on our return.

TMan, great to hear all is good! Wow, what a cruise, perfect spots, and I like how you "settled in" in-between the first and last legs. Any chance you'll have any pics of your adventures to post?
