Dang, if I lived in that area I don't think I'd ever stop boating, except for more fuel. Nice pics. Thank you so much for sharing them with us.
Great pictures . I work downtown over looking world trade and always look out and wonder what it would be like to cruise from out East and go through all of the water ways around Manhattan. Did you come across and large logs/debris in the water? I have been told it can be ridiculous with half submerged "things".
We did a similar trip Sept 4th to 5th. Water was rough heading to nyc. Left Jones inlet. Returned via east rockaway next day. Did loop around Manhattan.
I work right there too. looking out the window at the Statue of Liberty and down at the marina and wonder how much it costs to dock there....
Great pictures! We did that trip last year as a day trip. Went up to the Intrepid, got gas at Liberty Landing, then headed back home. It was awesome. Didn't go up the East River though. Would love to do that next time. Did you overnight in the City? If so, where?
Where did you dock for the night? Did you go North through the East River and out to the Hudson, or South through Spuyten Duyvil? I'm thinking about doing the trip again in a couple of weeks if the weather is good. But this time I want to spend the night.
I did see pieces of wood, most looked like lumber, floating in the water mostly in the Hudson and and towards the Verazzano Bridge. I didn't hit anything, but I did have to take some evasive maneuvers a few times.
I fueled up at Liberty Landing Marina, which is right next to Ellis Island in NJ. I asked how much a slip would be to stay overnight and was told $4/foot plus electric.
We stayed on the hook. There is anchorage behind the stature of liberty. It is usually very calm behind there... usually! If you are planning on staying on the hook, i can send you a picture of exactly where it is. Alternatively, Liberty Landing is a great place to stay... [We fueled there]. We went up the Hudson and through SpuytenDuyvil, Down the Harlem River into the East River and back home
We came out the bay at Fire Island Inlet, traveled the ocean to the Verazzano Bridge. It was about 1 hr 35 min @ 26mph cruise speed. From there we went passed Liberty Island and Ellis Island, then lower Manhattan/BatteryPark and turned north up the East River, then through Hell Gate, around Rikers Island and into Flushing Bay next to LaGuadia Airport and to World's Fair Marina which is next to Citi Field. We turned around and went back down the East River, around Battery Park and up the Hudson River to the Intepid. We, also, fueled up at Liberty Landing Marina (Gas was cheaper there than in Oakdale). All totaled, I traveled 182miles in 8 hours and used 76.3 gal gas.
Thank you for sharing, it's always a pleasure to look at other peoples cruising grounds Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Great pictures, thanks very much for sharing. We are supposed to make a trip to the Statue of Liberty in a few weeks with friends on their diesel boat lol. I'll be only too happy to chip in for fuel and food lol!!
