Well I just got back from the boat show. PACKED!!!

I don't think I've seen it that packed for 5 years. They weren't expecting that kind of turnout. They were understaffed, some vendors were missing, but the ones that were there were overwhelmed. LINES to get on boats, like 1 hour wait for some boats. Contracts were being signed, boats were being sold, vendors were running out of stuff. A couple of vendors asked me "Are all of the isles this packed?" I bought the last two manual life vests at one vendor. I bought the last Cell phone seasucker holder.

Last year it was like a ghost town. You could walk down an isle and be the only one. This year, you could barely make your way to some booths. Everyone had a smile on their face.

I went to the Baltimore show today, same problem this afternoon. No help, large crowds, long food and beer lines and not much in the way of vendors selling anything. Was also dissappointed in the size of the show, not much in the way of big boats. Sea Ray had the best show of boats by far.

I went to NYC show yesterday (friday), plenty of room to move around and no waits to get on boats. They kept ringing that bell at the Ser ray display, a salesman told me, each time meant another boat sale. In the 20 minutes I was in the Sear Ray area, I'll bet they sold 3 boats.

I agree, I was in Baltimore today too. As you said, Sea Ray was well represented, I wanted to check out the tugs but the line was too long - no thanks.

My neighbor and I went yesterday. Lines everywhere. Got whacked a few times by those damn Bayliner noodles they were giving out.

Now I can't wait for spring! Ahh the smell of fiberglass!

The Regal guy told me Friday that this year's show has been much more fruitful than last. Apparently financing is the problem in 2010. If you ain't paying cash and you ain't making 7 figures, you are not getting a boat loan. There's always the bank of your house!

I went to the show yesterday and was told marinemax sold 40 boats. The whole show was absolutely packed.

Yep, the Bayliner noodles were about as rude as it gets, they were everywhere and the parents were not controling the kids wheeling them around. That to top off the lines, it was not cool. Oh well, I will go to the DC boat show and see if it is better.

I just got back from the NY show too. Very crowded, when I talked to one of the SR sales managers that I know he said they had already sold more boats by noon on the first day of the show then they did the whole show last year. Makes me wonder what I might be doing wrong!

I think we saw the bottom of the market last year. After talking to everyone I could at the show, this year is slammin compared to last year and the year before.

I went with 7 of my buddies and found the same (Friday) - no big crowds but much more than last years ghost town. It appears that the wall was moved over to reduce the size of the main room. We had more fun after the show in the bars.....

I was at the NY Boat Show Friday night. There was a nice amout of traffic in the Javits Center, but the space was half the size. I spoke to my salesman and they had sold close to 30 boats before this weekend! That is very encouraging. On the other hand, there were very few vendors, the ones outside of Searay, came with one or two boats to show. It was a MarineMax venue for sure, Searay, Azimut, Meridian and fishing boats. they must of had 40% of all show space.
I still enjoy going to the show just to see the new models! You gotta dream....

I was there Wed Night after work and it was a ghost town. I think the weekend get the crowds. It is good to hear that people are buying. With a 700 plus credit score and 30% cash down, you can get decent financing, 6%.
