The Boat Owners Association of the United States, otherwise known as BoatUS, which claims it is the world's largest organisation of recreational boatowners, has announced the 20 most popular brands of boats owned by its 650,000 members.

Leading the list are:

1 Sea Ray
2 Bayliner
3 Wellcraft
4 Catalina
5 Grady-White

Sea Ray, with 54,266 boats, was by far the most popular powerboat owned by BoatU.S. members, followed by Bayliner with 32,712, Wellcraft with 17,565 and Grady-White with 16,487.

The next five largest boat brands owned are Chris-Craft with 11,071, Boston Whaler with 10,979, Carver with 10,439, Hunter with 10,037 and Four Winns with 9,265.

Rounding out the top 20 boats are: Pro-Line, Chaparral, Mako, Silverton, Regal, Maxum, Rinker, Pearson, Aquasport, and Larson.

"Since the average BoatU.S. member owns 1.8 boats we can say with confidence that BoatU.S. members own nearly 1.2 million recreational boats, or about 10% of all of the registered boats in the country" says BoatUS.

The average size boat owned is larger than 27ft.

Considering Sea Ray's are the most popular boat with it's members it's funny how we get beat up so bad by the 3-4 members who "bully" that message board around. :) No wonder there is so little activity over there.

With 4000 members here, we should just go invade them and get it over with.......Russia just did it to Georgia. Besides, how can we lose?......we have Gary's wit and FC3 to go for the throat on our side.

Meanwhile, I'll be on the sidelines watching and protecting my green balls!

There are bullies on the BoatUS board? Really?

I could put my taxes away for the evening and go have some fun....

Go for the throat? Excuse me, please?! Perhaps you confuse me with cousin Nunzio?

wow Frank..quite the instigator tonight aren't you!?
another green spek for you!

what amazes me is that this is the best sea ray forum by far, yet so few sea ray owners are registered. must be a lot of lurkers. There must be 200 sea rays in my marina alone, yet I only know of 2 or 3 that are registered. Then again only 2-3 take their boats out on the weekends. I have no idea what my point is.

Mike, I was thinking the same thing. some people don't care to bother, some just lurking and some don't know about it. It took me some time to find SRO, I'm very happy I did. I think that CSR gets little better hits when I google for some stuff. But, I guess, advertisement is not something CSR is focusing on for obvious reasons.

BTW, when I first saw this thread's topic, I thought it was a holding tank / marine head issue. Then Frank's post distracted me.

Best regards,
Frank C

Watch out for that negative reputation, Mr Number One!

I jumped over to Boatus hoping to see a good pot stirring going on over there by you Gary. What happened?

One of Gary's favorite CSR people (can't name names but it starts with a K:smt024) made a comment over there on a Four Winns thread that Gary ought to find.

I just went over there... that board is not very busy really. And at least my friend is consistent...

I don't know either but I gave you a green ball for it.
