NPS and Navigable Waterways Law Suit!

Good for him! The Feds are always overstepping their powers. Just another example of an out of control & broke govt, Mike.

I've been to AK a number of times and like the attitude of those who live there - independent and self sufficient - good for the guy in the hovercraft - I sure hope he prevails :smt038

This type of Federal activity must be stopped to preserve our way of life. Watch the Obamacare suits at the Supreme Court closely, they will presage what is to come pertaining to states rights and federal limits. MM

The story mentions submerged lands in the second paragraph. Is there some standing law definition of these rivers that fix their location regardless of flood or water level? Or is the river just what ever is wet?

I believe they use high water mark. This case will be interesting as it makes it way through the system. This is not new. Back in the 80's we had a case heading the the Supreme Court with a similar case involving a native corperatioin with the backing of 6-8 western govenors, then we elected Tony Knowleges (D). He dropped the case as payment to to the Alaska native communities.
