Hard rock bottom in basin and strong north wind with full moon causing an exceptionally low tide results in some very concerned boaters in our group on New Years. :smt009

Fortunately there seemed to be no serious damage. Tough Sea Rays!

:smt009 Wow! That's unusual to see boats aground in their slips! Is one of these yours?

Odd. The slips to either side appear to be just fine. Perhaps a difference in draft.

Actually nearly all of the larger boats on that side of the basin were aground.....just not severly enough to list like those two. Most had from 6 inches to 18 inches of waterline above the surface. The blue Dancer was a pod drive boat so I think we were all a bit surprised to see no damage from sitting on the hard rock bottom.

Good thing they are on floating piers. With fixed piers you would have some really tight lines!

What Marina is this? And what city? It looks familiar......

Thanks.

We had extremely strong winds combined with a season low tide on this past Sunday. Everybody in Colonial Beach was on the bottom. Most of us are on fixed docks also. I use 5/8 inch lines and I guess my boat was hanging for a bit. Lol! hate it when that happens. We also have a mud bottom.

Oh, and this is with about 2-3 inches of ice as well. Most I have ever seen here.
