Not sure what this is

I heard a sound ticking when I started the starboard engine. After quick Visual, I noticed this. What is it and where does it go? It’s not connected to anything. I also had to top off my coolant on same engine.

Your engine has that air manifold system to drain the raw water (blue bike pump)? It's mounted near the front, center of the engine. That's what it looks like that tube would go to, anyways. Check the bottom of that air manifold. That tube should push up into the hole that doesn't have a tube.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes your description is accurate. The bottom is connected but the top is not connected to anything. The hose was loose and was hitting against the pulleys and belt. Part of it was worn out because of the friction. After I tucked it away (bottom connected and top not) I ran the engine and sounds good, engine got to expected temp.

I still need some help here, so now i have a coolant leak. from i understand now, this is the water distribution housing which has a small tube going up but not connected to anything. I believe the leak is coming from there. what does the tube do? and what does the water distribution housing do anyway? is it raw water or coolant?

Thanks - i called Mercury Marine and they said it is not connected to anything and some people dont even have a hose.
