OK - thi sisn't really about boating - except my 16 year old is just nuts about our Sera Ray. It is about his cycling activity. William is 16 - in grade 11. He has been competative cycling (road and track) for 3 years. Last year (2011) he won the U17 Provincial Track Championships with 5 golds in 5 events. He won silver at the Provincial Road Championships. Then he was asked to race on Team Ontario in the National Championships. Here he won Bronze in the U17 Omnion (multiple events) and Gold in the U19 Team Persuit.

So this year our National Champion has earned a place on Team Canada to compete at the Pan AMerican Championships in Guatemala in April 2012. As you can imagine, we are both extremely proud of his effort and determination to achive this level of competative success. And does he ever love to get up the boat after an event to relax and unwind.

A few pictures from his 2011 season are here:

Congratulations and Good Luck! I'm sure you guys must be very proud.

Great to hear of young people actually doing great things for a change instead of all the other "stuff" in the news, well done to him and to you too!

Well Done! Takes a mountain of commitment to train on a competitive level. Takes another mountain of support from home. Good luck to him.

Excellent, you should be very pround. As I am sure you know, Canada has produced some incredible cyclists over the years.

Nice post and pics. It's nice to see kids doing something positive. Usually all we get about kids if from the news, and that usually isn't good.

Thanks for sharing your pride with all of us.
