I have a 1994 Sea Ray 230 with a Mercruiser 5.0L. Recently, I changed the engine / outdrive oil and since that time I have noticed I cannot reach WOT throttle RPMs (4400-4600). I'm only hitting 4200 at best and the boat seems sluggish to plane. I did notice it with 5 people aboard, which I had never had that many people on the boat before.
I'm curious could the drop in RPMs / sluggish performance out of the hole be attributed to the extra weight? Could I have put too much engine oil in the engine thus causing some performance issues? I have checked the dip stick and it looked a little high but I wasn't sure given the boat not sitting level on the trailer.
The oil pressure seemed a little low at higher RPMs compared to before the oil change (~50 vs the 60 before the oil change).
Prop has not changed and no damage has occurred in the timeframe.
Any thoughts would be awesome! I'm new to this engine.
Thank you!
