:smt100What is the best way to drain the coolant on cat 3116 engines? Is there a drain valve on the block somewhere or some other hidden device on the engine to facilitate this function.

Sorry I don't have the answer....I'm in LaConner with the same engines. Possibly NC Machinery in Mt.Vernon has the answer. I also think there is a Cat. specialist somewhere in Anacortes (Gregg's Diesel Service?).
Maybe we should stay in touch for common problems

Welcome Bud and NW. Frank W is the CAT guru here. He's usually pretty keen on catching threads about 450DAs and CATs but there is nothing in your thread title about it. It may be worth starting another with CAT 3126s in your title.

I have 3126's and there is a pipe plug on the front of the engine, they are on pipe that is connected to other plumbing via. Short section hoses for the fresh water cooling system. The trick is trying to catch the anti-freeze for re-use, or clean discarding. Port on my engines are right there, just under the alternator, the starboard is a very hard reach.

I just replaced all my hoses and clamps as well as a acid cleaning of my heat exchangers.
