Having an issue with my radio. Can broadcast with no issues at all. All people hear me very clearly. When receiving transmission, Garbled static that is extremely difficult to understand. I am actually thinking maybe the speaker blew?? Any thoughts and is there a direct replacement for this radio? Thanks!

There are NO direct replacement parts. I just bought a used hand set from a member here. There are some items on ebay. It's hit or miss there.

Thank you Jeff....Nothing ever easy!!

I seemingly have the opposite issue. Recieve ok, transmission n/g.. If you replace, I'll buy your handset! :smt038

If your having Transmission issues have a Electronics guy look at the Push to Talk button on the Handset! On mine, it was a cold Solder Joint and can be easily repaired

Had the same problem with mine and replaced the Northstar VHF with a new one (still have the old one).

The problem persisted.

It turned out that the antenna coaxial cable was pinched when the boat was built - so replaced the antenna and it works perfectly.

Try connecting a new antenna before replacing the VHF.

Good Luck!
