I just upgraded my boat. Last boat had an older Garmin and the new one has a Northstar 550i.
Seems to me that the Garmin graphics and usability is better than the Northstar. Plotting a course, finding destination like restaurants and towns seems much more difficult on the Northstar. Not a big navigator so an easy to use GPS helps me get further than I would typically travel which makes allows me more stress free boating.
I am considering swapping the Northstar out unless I find that it is a user issue vs the 550i..... Thanks
