Northeast Boating/Offshore Out of business

I recv'd a Sounding's Mag yesterday and they informed me that NE Boating is out of business and Soundings will fill the remainder of the Subscripion. I enjoyed reading NE for many years, just another sign of the times.
Although Soundings looks like a pretty good mag.

Of all the boating magazines I receive I always thought NE Boating was the worst. I'm not even sure how I started receiving it but it was free so I figured what the hell. To each his own.

is there any publications that can be of use for me here on long island? a lot of mags cover boats that arent really in my size. They are usually ski boats or larger boats what about us middle of the road guys??

When they switched the name from offshore they lost me with the format and content......You could see it coming over the last year....It just got thinner and thinner and thinner.......I enjoyed it til the end though and will miss it. Just like I miss port of call....

Boy, that Soundings magazine sure is big! Damn thing barely fits into my mailbox. I’ll miss NE Boating. I liked all the articles about local ports.

I have been getting both magazines for a number of years, so I was not surprised to see my usual Soundings in the mailbox. Then I read the inserted letter stating that my subscription to Soundings would be extended based on what I already paid for NE Boating. Looking at the address label on the front I seem to be fully paid through 2013. I sure hope Soundings lasts that long.

Chesapeake magazine is published by the same people as Soundings and NE Boating. They also published a biweekly give away magazine, called Nor'Easter. Thw biweekly magazine is nolonger available in New Jersey, Soundings has gotten a lot smaller than it used to be and so has Chesapeake. All an out fall of the weak ecomony. I just hope for all of our sake that those magazines can keep thier heads above water.
