Hi All Chesapeake folk

Im planning a guys weekend (this coming weekend). I'm leaving out of North East MD and looking for a 2-3 hr run. I was thinking St Michaels, Baltimore, Joppa, etc. Can you help me figure out where to go - party towns (nothing too crazy) would be good. I would prefer a transient slip because we have quite a few people and I love having shore power. However I'm fine staying on the hook for a night. I was also thinking a different place Friday night and Saturday. Thoughts?

The only other caveat is I need to be back at my dock around 12 Sunday AM.

Thanks All!!!

For a guys boating trip, Kent Narrows.
Less then 2 hours from N.E.
Call Mears Point Marina for a slip.
There is Red Eyes Dock Bar, Annies Steak house, Harris Crab House. On the other side of Rt. 50, Just a walk under the bridge, there is Big Owls dock bar, The Jetty and a few other hot spot resturants.
Good food
Good drink
Good eye candy.
Use your charts to get there.

UMMM.. Well I guess if it's this weekend I am a bit late.

But Rock Hall is good. Harbor Shack and Watermans there and both might have bands on the weekend. You can do Rock Hall one night then Balt. Inner Harbor second night.

Tolchester Marina has a nice pool and bar. Restaurant was not that impressive when we were there if we go back we will pack our own food.

Agree with Kent Narrows.

Sassafras is an easy run if weather is questionable and has some good restaurants there.

If you are going down almost to the Bay Bridge, then Annapolis is within reach. But I would bet that the Bay Bridge would be right at or a little over that 2hr limit depending on the wind and weather...

You mention Joppa in your post. If you get a slip at MarineMax there then you can meet up with J pier! There is one restaurant Italian that has good food and will deliver. It's an easy walk. But other then that it's pretty limited to the marina proper.

Best of luck and looks like the weather is on your side.

All very good suggestions. I think we were thinking Balt. but that's because I have no other places to recommend. I thought about Sassafras but it looks to be a little more tame and "proper".... Kent Narrows sounds like the perfect place. Thanks again for the suggestions!!

Just looked at a map.... anybody know how far this "should" be with weather on our side? looks to be past Baltimore so I'm guessing 3-3.5 hours? Sound right?

Buy a Maryland Crusing Guide chart book at WM.
North East to Kent Narrows*** 45 miles.
Head to the end of the N.E. River to "RG-A" bouy. Then head to Worton Pt. Just past Worton you can take the Tolchester Channel past Rock Hall. At Red Bouy " 8 " head 165 degrees down the mouth of the Chester R. to Red Bouy " 6 " then 180 degrees to the well marked channel into Kent Narrows. On a clear day you can see K.N. Bridge from R "8".
My boat cruises at 30 mph. and I can have a cold one at Red Eyes in less then 2 hours.
These directions are just to give you an idea how to get there. Please buy and use a chart book.

Did you make the trip over the weekend? We ran into some pretty heavy water on our return from the Inner Harbor on Saturday afternoon. I would not have liked to be out in the middle of the bay making the trip south from North East on a day like that! Sunday’s Bay water was nice and smooth, but Saturday was a rough one.

Glad I didn't go out on Saturday... Sunday though, that's another story all together. It couldn't have been nicer out there on Sunday.

I'm interested to hear about the trip as well.

giff1 - thanks for the information. I am going to buy a chart book this weekend before we go.

The trip is this coming Friday - weather looks amazing!! Can't wait. I think it's going to take me a little longer - I don't normally cruise at 30 ... closer to 26/27 plus I'll have 5 grown men on the boat - it will be a little sluggish I imagine.

5 big guys on your 27' sea ray and you are all staying on it. Good luck its like going on a trip in a volkswagon with 5 guys.

I have a better trip you can leave north east MD go to turkey point come back to north east and hang out at nauti goose saloon you have a better time.

Wow, you are just full of helpful ideas.

Kent Narrows is a good call but may still be a little dead this early in the season. Rock Hall is also still pretty dead - No live bands at Watermans until late May.

I would stick with Baltimore. Get a slip at Hendersons Wharf (http://www.hendersonswharf.com/marina/) in Fells Point for Fri night and you'll be within walking distance to more great bars and restaurants than you can count. The Horse You Came In On (http://www.thehorsebaltimore.com/) is my local favorite. Mid day Sat, head a cross the Patapsco and tie up at the Tiki Barge (http://tikibargebaltimore.com/) for some refreshments. Then you could head back up the bay and stay at Great Oak Landing on Sat night (either slip http://mearsgreatoaklanding.com/ or anchor out in Fairlee Creek). I don't think Jellyfish Joel Sand Bar is open yet, but there will be live music and lively crowd up in the deck bar on Sat night.

Easy cruise back up to the North East on Sun morning and you're at your slip by noon.

Life is an adventure. Boating life is the best.

You can go to Turkey Pt. and back to The Goose all summer.
You can go to Baltimore City and you are a boater in the city.
Or you can go to Kent Narrows and be a boater in a boating place.

Five guys on a boat is an adventure. You could Youtube it.

You can also hit Ego Alley in Annapolis and go to Pussers. Really, smooth water will be the determination. Red Eyes is fun!!
So is Balitmore.

Haha thanks everybody. Funny thing... Ended up meeting all the great people at my marina and hung out there. Went to the nauti goose both nights - good time and cheaper. 5 guys on the boat was entertaining. People slept everywhere. I'm going to save Baltimore and other destinations for when I haves chart plotter and/or when I can tag along with others from my marina.

Hey Bill he did one better he never left the dock smart man.

Man, how did you get five guys to not want to take the boat out for a spin? That's the best part!
