The family wants to go to Norris Lake this summer. We live in Knoxville. I have never been to Norris but have heard that it is wonderful. We sort of want to stay in a rental with a dock or in a floating house. My questions are:

Where should we go/avoid? (I would rather not tow too far off of the highway.)
When should we go/avoid? (Are there any festivals or big events on the lake that would make a certain time worth it to go?)
Does anyone have any contacts for marinas/rentals?

Any help would be great. As I said, I want to take the boat up and stay for a long weekend or something like that.

AVGuy?!?

TIA.

Matt,
I love going to norris. We always stay on the east end of the lake near lone mountain shores area. I like that end of the lake is less populated and has less boat traffic. lots of houses with docks. We usually went for a week so I don't think I could stayin a floating house for that length of time. We have used these 2 companies for rentals

Thanks all for the advice. AVGuy, I did get the e-mail. I look forward to heading up there and I'll keep checking the post for updates.

Are there any big happenings on the lake throughout the summer?

June 27 are the fireworks at Sequoyah Marina. Best fireworks on the lake!!

July 24-26 is Malibu weekend. The Malibu dealer in Cincinnati has a big party for Malibu boat owners but really it is a big party for everyone. Saturday (25th) night is the big party at Shanghai Marina. During the day, everyone hangs out near the bridge by Sugar Hollow Marina.

Matt.. we have gone there the last 2 years and rented a floating house at the link below. Their rentals are very nice and well equiped. We always had a dingy and jetski to get back to the marina so that made it convenient. Other than that I saw no issues staying on the floating house for a week or two.. the kids thought it was great. There is also a ramp and trailer storage right at the marina
