We took the boat out Friday to make final preparations for our 2 1/2 week trip to (hopefully) Desolation Sound. We noticed that evening that the fridge was working. Further troubleshooting, we discovered that it worked fine on AC, when on DC, it runs, sounds normal, just doesn't cool. We have the 2.7 cu ft norcold. The boat is 26 months old. The local Sea Ray dealership just wants to replace it, and charge a ridiculous $650.00. I see on the previous posts that price is in the ballpark, but the problems posted on previous posts were not clear if the fridge ran on DC power.

Anyone have any ideas?

P.S. We are hoping to leave Thursday with a working fridge on the boat, not much time left.

Probably your power supply board is acting up. I think it's about $100 or so on the norcold. It is the device that knows when to switch and turn on the compressor. Might also be called an interface board. Not sure you'll finish with a diagnosis, order the parts, and get them installed in 48 hours though. I would leave it alone until after your trip - just run it cold when you are on the dock with AC power. If you really want to have it fully functional, get the new fridge in from the dealer if he has it in stock. When you get back, fix the old fridge and sell it. You'll get a couple hundred for it online..

We went with this option and had it installed this morning.

Thank you for the advice on repairing and selling!
