It just doesnt cool.

Thanks

That looks doable...
Do you know how much freon he put in? And did his use the R134 or the R22?

The Freon depends on your model, should be on the label.

he followed the instructions, I think he let Freon go in for a couple seconds and waited, if it didn’t start getting cold, another small burst. Seems like less is better because it’s just as bad to have too much and not enough

Yes you are correct.
I have not taken it out of my boat yet, but should not be too much of an issue.
Thanks.

YEA... I got the charge kit you sent me the link on and it worked.
Now, I just would like to know what the pressure should be.
I did auto AC units several years ago and it seemed like the low pressure was 38-48psi.
would it be about the same on this?

Can someone please tell me what the low pressure is supposed to be on this Norcold DE0051?
Some youtube vids say 2-3 psi, that is way lower than expected.
My frig had 8 to 10 psi and was not cooling.
I added freon to 45psi and it cooled but not as it should. about 40deg.
I dropped pressure to 18 and it cooled to 20deg in freezer but was line on outside was freezing up.
I added to 25psi and it is cooling to about 20deg in freezer and no icing up on outside lines, as of yet.
I'm letting it run tonight and see what it is in the morning.

I added a bullet piercing valve to the low side of one about a year ago with no idea of what the pressure should be. After searching everything I could find, what I did find said -3 to +3. When I got to around 0, if performed as it should. I could get 16 in the freezer and 37 in the refrigerator. It lasted about 6 months. I think I may have damaged the compressor or ? by charging it to 45psi while experimenting...

Hello, I think I’m having the same issue with Freon. Can you let me know which one you used also where did you pierce though location. That would help a lot I have the same refrigerator

I bought this exact set up on Amazon, and I too got a couple months out of it, now new fridge is on the list. The problem for me was there wasn’t a great location and I could never get a good fit on the line. I should have paid a pro to braise a service fitting in. But the fridge is 20+ years old. It needs replacing anyway.

To answer the last question, you only need a section of tubing about an 1” long that is flat and accessible. It goes on the suction line. That’s the line that comes out from the evaporator (cold plate). Not the side that comes out of the compressor and runs to the cooling fins (hot side).
