NOOB from Northern Virginia

Hello all. I've been boating for a couple of years now. I have a 1981 Checkmate that I like to go fast with. Its a fun little boat but i get a little to beat up in the Potomac so I've been thinking of buying bigger. Not quite sure what yet and that is part of the reason I'm here.

Welcome aboard! My brother had a very similar Checkmate years back. It was great on flat days but not really usable for us when the bay started kicking a little.

I think you will find a pretty biased crowd here as to what your next boat should be! :grin:

Thanks guys. I'm thinking I want a Pachanga and I'm sure there's a lot of info on here about those old boats so I'll just sit back and learn.

That's funny!! My brother had one of those too!! We almost lost my wife (GF @ the time) when we hit a nice wake while running at about 40mph. I looked back and she was mid-air, ass over tea kettle!! Man that was a good time!! Kinda makes you wonder how life would be today if she had dumped me after she went overboard if it did happen? Oh well, one can only wonder.......:lol:

Those are really nice boats and I think you will enjoy the extra space and handling over the Checkmate.
