Gofirstclass's story made me think of this.

A couple of weeks ago on a fantastic 80 degree afternoon we went for our first family trip this season. I decided to scope out gas prices on the ride. My marina is $4.75 for regular with ethanol and an additive. The marina across from us is ethanol free and $4.99. They also have mid-grade @ $6.56:wow: . Cheapest was $4.25-also ethanol free. I kind of predicted this when gas prices were through the roof. I thought they would never come back on the lake because we are a captive audience. Seems I was right. Oh well..

For the past four years our first boat ride turns into towing somebody. We even joked about it this year. Well, we pulled into the 3rd marina and there he was. Out of gas and they were way closed. Towed him down the lake to a ramp. The wife asked me-because gas prices were on our radar-"Who the hell tows their boat to the lake and does not have a full tank? Idiots." My favorite was last year where a guy and his mistress flagged us down. Spent about 45 minutes getting him back to his ramp with the bilge pump running the whole time. He kept saying "I don't know why it quit running". I said "You should look for the leak first." His response "What leak?"

i have been wondering what it will be on our river this year. last year it was $4.25. hoping it drops this year. i was told that the owner sells the gas at cost. not sure how true this is.

i towed a guy in last year. he offered gas money but i refused. hope somebody will return the favor if i ever need it

does it hurt these older engines (mines a 1986) to run pump gas from sheetz or any other gas station? if not i will be filling mine up before we put it in the water

Yikes! $2.79 when I filled up last weekend on LKN. Gas on the lake typicall runs $1 - 1.50 above the street. Luckily my little boat isn't too bad on gas, when I had the DA I just closed my eyes and took it like a man.

One benefit to lay up with a full tank I suppose, although the bill sucks at the end of the season right before we haul it out.

Hopefully once the season gets underway we see some relief but at the end of last season we were $3.78 for 91 valvtec

Our marina was still $4.29 a couple weeks age. I'd be surprised to see anything below $3.00. Price for being lake locked. At least it is all non-ethenol premium gas with valvetec.

The dollar over street price held true on our lake until the prices dropped after that last spike. They never came down with them. Cant say I blame them-it is the price of being lake locked. I just cant imagine who buys the $6.56 a gallon gas. That stuff cant be very fresh.

We were in the $2.95 - $3.20 range in the upper Chesapeake all last summer. I just checked the web page for my usual fuel stop, and it says $2.50 right now, that's only $2.40 with a Boat US card. Sweet!

I think I'm going to rename my boat "Carbon Footprint" for the season...
