I have just put in my 07 32 dancer and am new to site. I can not get my tv to pick up any local channels. Looked in manual and turned the gain up. Tried a converter box, Called Marine Max they only said you might not have digital siginal at dock, but other people have tvs around me and they work. Anyone have any suggestions. Island area lake Erie

What is the A/B switch set on? Cable or Antenna?

"...Called Marine Max they only said you might not have digital siginal at dock..."

Considering there are no more analog TV signals I can't fathom why they would even make that worthless statement.

I don't know what your set up is so I can only give you my experience with the same problem.

On Saint Max, there are two things behind the TV. One is an adjustable gain box for the antenna. The gain box is powered. I can't recall if it is 12 VDC or 120VAC. It does need to be powered to work.

The coax cable from the antenna goes into the gain box and the coax to the TV comes out of it and goes to the other thing behind the TV which is a push button A/B switch box. One button is to get signal from the antenna. The other button to get signal from the cable TV/phone outlets next the shore power inlets. Do you have the correct button pushed in. If not, you will have trouble. DAMHIK.

Let's trace the coax cable wiring. Unless your TV is digital, you will need a converter box. The coax coming out of the adjustable gain box needs to go to the converter box and the coax coming out of the converter box needs to go to the A/B Switch box. The coax coming from the A/B Switch box to the TV remains unchanged.

Saint Max has the original flying saucer antenna and TV/VCR combo. I pick up about 12 local channels via my converter box.

Did you do a scan from your converter box? Did it pick up anything?

I did the scan from the converter box and nothing. I am going to check for the a/b that dpmulvey spoke about. I did look at the connection at the rear of the boat but did not see any switch but will look again this weekend. At the bottom of the tv there is a gray box that hangs down and coax goes into and I looked for a switch on it but ther was nothing. The TV is a flat screen LG the original tv that came with the boat. DVD works fine.

I am oretty sure Sea Ray was still putting analog TVs in 2007 models. But a convertor box should have detected some digital signals no matter how much of a fringe area you are in. The fact that didn't happen leads me to ask the elemental decision whether you have everything hooked up correctly. The lead from your Glomex that formerly went to the TV should be going to the input side of the convertor. The ouput side of the convertor should then be going to the TV. All tuning needs to be done thru the convertor not the TV and the TV needs to be set on the correct channel to match the setting on the Convertor box (either channel 3 or 4).

Do you have any other TV's in your boat? Or just the one at the galley? This does affect the installation.

No just the one TV. I did think well I must have it hooked up wrong and disconnected the converter box and reconnected it and checked that I had the coax form ant. to ant in and the coax that came with converter box from out to TV to the small grey box on the back of the TV.

DPF,
The small box on the TV is a tuner pack if your TV is a 15" LG Flatron 1510T Monitor. This tuner pack is analog not digital but works with a shore Satellite/Cable connection. Mine is not making a good solid connection causing some channels to fade out both picture and sound. You should probably have a DVD player also so if you get a picture that way the Monitor itself is ok. My DVD connection is through RCA composite connections not the coax from the antenna and requires you to switch the Source from TV to one of the Video inputs.

Did you turn on the search for channels mode on the TV and see what it will find? When running the search let it search for cable signals.
Hope this helps.

Try Connecting your converter box using the yellow video wire and switch your television to the proper video channel. This will eliminate the gessing game on weather or not you have in on air/cable.

What Marina are you at? I can assure you there are plenty of digital signals in the Island area. When you get out to the Islands you should be picking up Detroit's loca cahnnels. I think Marine Max is blowing a little smoke....

Thanks for all the help. I hope the weather is better this weekend and I won't need it. I owned the boat for two weeks and haven't had her away from the dock.

Those winds were something else this weekend. I was pretty amazed that it was happening in the Sping. I've seen the water get blown out of hte lake in the fall but never like that in the Spring. We where down over four feet in East Harbor.

Where are you Moored?

Have you tried to do a channel scan, from the menu within your TV itself? I had a very similar problem, but once I did the channel scan, the Glomex worked beautifully. One note, I believe that now I will need to do a new channel scan each time I switch from Glomex, back to shore cable. Let me know if this solution works for you, I hope it does. I know how frustrating it can be.

I have not seen this mentioned yet in this thread but so I will go out on a limb. Do you have the 12v "TV" switch on your electrical control panel turned on?? You will not be powering the gain control if it is not. I have an 07 320 Dancer with a digital TV on the bulk head and an analog tv w/converter box in the mid cabin. Neither will work if the switch is not on.
