I was trying to find out why the camper package is not available with the V Drives. Is it a ventillation issue? I noticed that some people had a custom camper made for their 34's, so I assume its not a safety issue. Anyone know why?

It is due to ventilation and safety. Several people have them made by local shops. Most who do use some form of CO detector in the cockpit to monitor exhaust fume levels.

Thanks John. That was the only reason I could think of that made sense. I would think that the factory would still offer it as an option as long as they added the CO detector in the cockpit as well.

BTW- Nice looking boat....I saw the the 32 and 34 at the boat show last weekend and was very impressed with the layouts. I am planning on moving up to a 28, but the 32/34 is very tempting. A significant price increase though!!

it all depends where, how, and for what you shop:

This is about how my 420 looked when I first inspected her. Oxidized gelcoat, etc. This boat will need new isenglass/strataglass at a minimum judging by the front panels. PM me if you want to go over some of my lessons learned buying a cosmetically challenged (but mechanically solid) boat

Lots of interesting opportunities from this broker.

180 Sport,
What do you think your price range and what yr are you looking for in the 280 you're looking for?
I'm looking for nice 260S and will pull the trigger after our boat show(mid Jan -08), but have considered and will keep my eyes open for nice 280. The twin 4.3's really make sense

Thanks or the link Skip....thats not a bad deal. We were looking to stay with an 05 or newer in the 280 because we really didnt like the upholstery/interior on the 04 and older, but I noticed that the 34 has the newer style flat surface vs the frilly stuff. You have to keep the women happy right? We may expand the search to include the older 32/34.

Todd,

I was looking in the range of $80-90K and have seen some good looking 05's in the high 80's. Twin 4.3's are a good set up...The concern of course is most in my region are saltwater boats and I would want to make sure I found one that was dry stored or lift stored and flushed after each use. I see many listed that are in wet slips and that is a concern with the outdrives of course. We too thought of the 260, but after getting into the cabin it seems a little tight for extended trips and I really want the twin engine set up so on to the 280 we went. It was a bad move going to the show last weekend in Tampa and getting on the 32/34 though :smt115 Thats quite a jump up in price and fuel though, so that may keep us in the 280 range.
